Its been slightly over 2 months since Yasmin Ahmad passed away. Found this very nice tribute done for Yasmin on Ruums. How time flies, 2 months already?! I already feel the lost when during the festive season, we didn’t get a Yasmin Ahmad ad which normally is the talk of the town. Where ever you are Yasmin, i sure hope you are at your ‘happy place’
Another brilliant video by the 15 Malaysia project. This time by director Linus Chung about an Indian boy is asked to build a model of his house at school. A tale on the social economic plight faced by many Indian Malaysians. Sad situation isnt it. I suppose you cant say you know how it feels till you are in the situation.
You can also watch the making of House , especially the last part of the making video.. Cheeky!
I was thinking about Yasmin Ahmad, someone i barely knew but i felt connected with. She was nothing short from being inspiring to me and gives us Malaysians hope.. i hope! So i was searching the net for talks she conducted, interviews and i found this very nice on that she gave to TedX.
Oh boy, we need more of this kinda individuals to carry us thru this grey era!
The 2nd video for 15Malaysia is now out! Its by our late Yasmin Ahmad!! Her products were nothing short of what she believed in which was fundamentally for us Malaysians to be one! Chocolate was her last film so watch it once, watch it twice and enjoy it cause we are not going to get anymore
Check out the video below & Don’t forget to check out 15 Malaysia & spread the word!
Did you understand the video? Head HERE to see what others think it means OR you could listen to the director herself taking about Chocolate on The Making of Chocolate
Here’s a really cool project that is being done by the same people who brought your The Malaysian Artist For Unity Video, Here in My Home . Headed by Pete Teo,15 Malaysia is a project of 15 short movies that have been directed by 15 young Malaysian film makers. The cast, it consist of celebrities, actors, musicians and high profile and often-controversial politicians.
What kind of films can you expect? Its a range of racism, the Mat Rempit phenomenon, freedom of expression, party-hopping, bribery, corruption, the state of Malaysian football, paedophilia, Islamic banking, or even humorous instructions on how to conduct halal cooking!
The folks are not releasing too much information of how the video’s will look but they have released a series of trailers which are available online! Check out the one of the 15 video’s which you can start watching from the 17th of August 2009
Now the interesting part… Who’s in the short movie? (more…)
This apparently was the last interview that was done with Yasmin Ahmad giving her thoughts about 1 Malaysia and candidly about being colourless and living as one people.
