The Loving UMNO Cheras

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Senator Datuk Wira Syed Ali Alhabshee seems to be a proud man! His Cheras UMNO division has setup a fund to help the poor Utusan Malaysia which is being sued for RM30Mil by Teresa Kok.

My father used to tell me not to ever assume anything and later i was told by by a wise man that the word assume probably was derived from Making a ASS out of U and ME. So always make sure you know what you are talking about and have proper justification for it. I try to not assume anything since then.

So while i was reading article by Rocky yesterday i found which shows the Cheras UMNO Cheif’s posting on the launch of this new funds. What was weird to me is i got the impression that some feel that UMNO represents all Islam of Malaysia or MIC for Indians or MCA for the Chinese.

Those are simply political parties that are represented by the respective race but does not mean they represent the sentiments on the ground! That is something very important that they need to get into their system before releasing such statements. Something like this might have worked about 10 years ago but today, Malaysians are have developed the maturity to think and decide on their own.

Check out this quote from the article :

Assumption 1

“Apabila pemimpin DAP itu menyaman akhbar Utusan Malaysia hanya kerana isu laungan azan, maka tindakan Teresa itu seolah-olah mencabar dan menghiris seluruh perasaan umat Islam di negara ini,”

Assumption 2

Akhbar Utusan Malaysia adalah milik orang Melayu dan sinonim dengan perjuangan UMNO, maka tindakan Teresa itu samalah seperti menggugat kepentingan seluruh umat Islam.

Those are 2 very powerful assumptions that generalize the sentiments on the ground!! I’m no expert but a ordinary Malaysian who cant stand race based politics and think that its the cheapest way to gain mileage.

My view

Teresa Kok is wants Utusan to pay for the damage they caused with their reporting. She must have some grounds to do what she has. Would you keep quiet if that happened to you? Imagine getting busted under the ISA and going through hell behind bars?

If Utusan has grounds for what they have reported and are purely reporting the truth, then let them fight it in court and they the whole suit will definitely be striked out! When one person concedes defeat before a fight they definitely is weak and has no grounds to defend their rights isn’t it!?

I’m confused….Whats the connection between a law suit and a attack to a race? I don’t see how a legal case as anything to do with challenging the rights of Muslims, we would never challenge another race or religion…I don’t know where these people come from!! I was born in Malaysia and i was always told to respect everyone and that’s what most of us do!!

What are your thoughts??

Pak Lah To Retire In March

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

So the cat is out of the bag, PM Badawi has announced to not to defend his Umno president’s post and will quit in March next year when the ruling party meets for its annual general assembly. The current PM is set to be he PM who held the premiership for the shortest time frame ever clocking 5years and 5months in office, 1month shorter than Hussein Onn who had to resign due to health reasons.

Now the transition plan to his deputy is underway with Najib set to become the next Prime Minister of the country. That is provided Najib bags the UMNO top post un-contested.Interesting that the PM still wants to hold on to office for 5 months for the “transition plan” to take effect and the transition is smooth.

So is Najib what Malaysia wants?

Will He Stay or Will He Go?

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Today is the day when the PM Badawi will announce if he will stay on and contest for the UMNO top job and Premiership of the nation.

Personally I feel for this man.I dont think he is a bad person but i get the impression that a prime minister needs to be wayyyy stronger than what he brings to the table. So I think he should go but I’m not a fan of his “transition plan”.
My question is:

HOW DO YOU TRUST THE JUDGEMENT OF A PM THAT HAS FAILED??

How a Prime Minister Is Choosen

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Ever wondered how a prime minister is decided? With Najib,Badawi,Anwar and now even Ku Li after the hot seat, the below article gives you a idea of the posibilities of how a prime minister can be elected based on circumtances.

EVEN as opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stumbled in his quest to unseat the government by 16 Sept 2008, the likelihood of a change in government lingers palpably. Questions now abound about how exactly Anwar can achieve forming the next government.

Some legal experts have said a vote of no-confidence in Parliament against the sitting prime minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, is the Pakatan Rakyat leader’s only recourse.

Lawyer Tommy Thomas tells The Nut Graph what methods are constitutionally available for a change of premier. The constitutional lawyer explains the legal principles involved, stressing that blocking a vote of no-confidence in Parliament against the prime minister — which has happened twice already — is unconstitutional, as are attempts to detain Anwar or any other member of parliament (MP) at this juncture.

TNG: What are the legal principles established by the three cases: Stephen Kalong Ningkan (1966); the Privy Council case (Nigerian case: Adegbenro vs Akintola in 1963); and 1994’s Datuk Amir Kahar Mustapha vs Tun Mohd Said Keruak, which involved former chief minister of Sabah Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan resigning from his post?

Tommy Thomas: The legal principles established by the cases are this: In the Stephen Kalong Ningkang case, the court said, the only way to test confidence is by a lower house vote. That is the legal principle. So it is confined to one method only. In the Privy Council case from Nigeria and the Pairin Kitingan case, there was no lower house vote. Yet the courts said in both cases, the governor acted correctly. That’s the principle to be drawn.

So the three reported cases we know of [involved] governors (the Sabah and Sarawak Yang diPertua’s powers are similar to a governor’s). Yet none of them is the decision of the head of state or a constitutional monarch. I personally know of no [such] cases.

So, in the Malaysian context now, there are no precedents to guide us? (more…)

The UMNO Joke

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Ahmad Ismail, is a politician that is loosing respect from ALL Malaysians unless your ignorant and have some mental issues. I for one have got no respect for a racist and the best part is this guy is refusing to apologize after the Deputy Prime Minister has come out and apologized on his behalf.

Where has this guy been?? Who the heck is he kidding?? How can he even try to give lousy excuses after saying “Orang Cina cuma tumpang di sini sahaja“. Its totally uncalled for in my view!

When contacted recently he told the press that ; (more…)
