Malaysia-Today Interviews Home Minister

Friday, December 12th, 2008

art013029

This is a interview taken from Malaysia Today. Make sure you read the disclaimer after the interview and enjoy the interview.

Malaysia Today: YB, thank you for agreeing to an interview with Malaysia Today’s No Holds Barred column.

Yang Berhormat: Thank you for inviting me. It is very seldom that the alternative media would interview a member of the Cabinet so that we can set the record straight and correct the lies and wrong perception about the government, which are spread by the alternative media. Normally, the alternative media just reports rumours without obtaining the government’s side of the story. I congratulate the alternative media for becoming more mature in giving the government space to inform the public of the truth.

But before we start, I would like to offer my condolence to the Indian government on the recent tragedy in Mumbai. I thank God that Malaysia does not suffer such acts of terrorism, primarily because we have the Internal Security Act, which allows us to detain terrorist before they can cause any harm to society. This shows that the Internal Security Act has been very successful in maintaining law and order and in safeguarding the security of this country.

MT: Since you have brought up the matter of the ISA, YB, can we start by talking about that?

YB: Sure.

MT: The people criticise the ISA and…….

YB: Which people? The alternative media always talks about ‘the people’. But which people are you talking about? (more…)

Syed Hamid’s World

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

When Spiderman first discovered his powers all he did was flaunt it! He was shooting webs everywhere, climbing walls & swinging from building to building. Then his grandfather told him that with great power comes great responsibility and he had to control his powers and he is responsible for his actions.

What did spidy do? He stopped F*&^in around with his powers and started to use it to help people and get the chick of his dreams(benefits of the jobs la).

But our home minister seems to be very amused with his new found powers and he is firing bloggers down, locking up bloggers and when he sees more than 10 people in a space, his boys are deployed to lock them out. It doesn’t matter if Superman,Cicakman or even Rocco was part of the crowd!

Anyway….i think he still hasnt had that chat with grandpa who tells him that with great power comes great responsibility and that he is and will be accountable for his actions. He has taken matters into his own hands and is firing away as he feels like it! Its like a kid who got his first water gun! FIRE at anything at sight and then claim that its only water whatttt!!!

I think that someone better have that long overdue chat with him before he pisses off too many people and something huge blows up that is not pretty to look at. There have been calls for his head but somehow i think that calls will be ignored however this could only spell trouble if not dealt with.

Oh, and if your wondering what he thinks about the Bersih gathering arrest , this what he thinks.

What are your thoughts?

Happy 58th Birthday RPK

Monday, September 29th, 2008

27th Sept was RPK’s 58th birthday. Unfortunately the ace blogger cant celebrate his birthday with his loved once as he is being held without trial at Kamunting. His wife Marina and his daughters got the chance to meet the man at the detention center.

After reading the experience from RPK’s wife Marina, it struck me hard. Does he deserve what he is going through right now? This is a 58 year old man who is not in the best physical situation and all he did was blog? Yes maybe his articles were not the favourite of some but he just spoke his mind and if someone had a problem with it, why wasn’t he charged and given a chance to defend himself?

Below is what has happened (YOU HAVE TO READ IT) (more…)

Perez Hilton Speaks About RPK

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Not only Malaysians are disgusted with the arrested at the arrest of RPK. Famous hollywood blogger Perez Hilton has blogged about RPK in his blog. In his posting, he says :

A controversial Malaysian blogger named Raja Petra Kamaruddin has been detained for criticizing the Malaysian government and ‘insulting’ Islam.

And, as if that weren’t troubling enough, the blogger is going to be locked up – without a trial – for TWO YEARS!

His wife told the media, “(Police) said my husband has been sent to Kamunting this morning and that he will remain there for two years with no trial. This is the worst news I can receive but we will keep fighting for his release.”

The blogger’s attorney said the government had pulled a “mean, dirty trick” by issuing the detention order the night before a scheduled court hearing on Tuesday to secure his release. “The government can now hide behind a veil of secrecy because they do not have to disclose reasons for detaining him.”

God bless America.

We always give thanks for the freedom we have to speak our mind!

The world is watching and are in disgust of our government. Embarrassing!

Anwar’s Press Release

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA, 13 SEPTEMBER 2008

The UMNO led BN government is again using the brute force of the ISA to assault those brave and courageous Malaysians who speak out in the name of truth and integrity about the abuses of power, corruption and racism perpetuated by the ruling clique.

I reiterate my unequivocal opposition to the ISA and condemn the unjustified and illegal detention of blogger and social activist Raja Petra Kamaruddin, Seputeh MP and Selangor State Executive Committee Member YB Teresa Kok and Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng.

On March 8th and again on August 26th, the Malaysian people expressed their support at the polls for a government that is more accountable and that fulfills its mandate as representative of the people. The UMNO-led BN government has ignored this call.  Instead of pursuing a reform agenda it has chosen to burn the country to save itself and to maintain its odious grip on power.

We ask the government how far it is willing to go to usurp justice and destroy the institutions of good governance in its attempt to drive the Malaysian people against each other?

We vehemently reject the racial politics used by politicians in the UMNO-led BN government as an attempt to deflect from internal strife within UMNO, and promise that leaders in the Pakatan Rakyat are committed to and capable of building a peaceful, democratic, multiracial society.

We allude to the statement issued by Pakatan Rakyat on 8 September reiterating our full commitment to constitutional guarantees including the position of Islam as the religion of the federation, the freedom to practice other religions, Bahasa Melayu as the national language and the freedom to practice mother tongue languages, and the status of the Malay kings and the special position of the Malays and bumiputera.

I urge the government to assure the Malaysian people that this politically motivated operation is over.  As citizens of a nation that professes to adhere to the spirit of its Constitution, we refuse to live another night in fear.

Those who have been detained under the ISA should be released immediately.  We will offer every conceivable support to our friends and their families as they face this ordeal.
