HTC Desire : Maxis

Since the launch of Android i have been waiting for this day when we start receiving the latest phones in Malaysia at the same time the rest of the world does and the gap seems to be getting smaller and smaller thanks to Maxis.

The iPhone was introduced to us by Maxis and touted as the “iPhone” killer is going to make its way to our country by Maxis as well! No im not plugging Maxis but its brilliant that they are leading the pack and making a effort to bring the best to our shores. Its superb that we as consumers have options and iPhone has a real competitor in the android devices, only can mean better products to come.

The HTC desire is eye candy and coupled with the Android OS, its tempting me big time! Apparently it will be priced at the 2.2k mark, yes pricy but thats the price of the latest and greatest tech ha!

Looking forward to more and hopefully get my hands on one of these sweet sweet gadgets :)

Thomas/Uber Cup 2010

I remember the last time we won the Thomas Cup, i was still young and watching it amongst family with Foo Kok Keong,  Rashid Sidek, Kwan Yoke Meng,  Razif/Jalani & Cheah Soon Kit/Soo Beng Kiang winning the tittle for us at home soil against the Indonesians, our No 1 nemesis at that point of time.

Ever since that, we have NOT won the Thomas Cup and even being knocked off by opponents who are no threats under normal circumstances . Well many many years down the road, the Cup is hosted yet again in home soil and we have a very good chance of bringing the cup home with a crop of players who are world beaters.

We have the world No 1 singles player, we have double pairs who can beat anyone on their day and coaches who are worthy of the tittle as well. Its our best chance in a long time.

It happens on the 9th-16th May 2010 at the Putra Indoor Stadium or Stadium Putra. Hopefully we go support the team by the numbers and hopefully we bring the tittle back!

I think ill go watch at least one of the matches and hopefully the finals if i can get me tickets!

They Go Faster, We Get Expensive

So our broadband has been a rubbish for many years now but being Malaysians we try to go with whats available to us but when you see whats happening around us, i need to scream.

Ok, what am i whinning about.. Have a look at the streamyx pricing.

So the fastest speed offered is 4Mbps and its RM268 to get that kind of speed. Expensive? I definately think so, considering that the governemnt is pushing for broadband penetration, it looks like you need to pay a premium to enjoy such speeds. BUT THATS REALITY ISNT IT?

Now from across the Causeway :

SINGAPORE – Mobile broadband speeds are set to double to 42Mbps by the second half of the year. And this might not burn a hole in your wallet.

Now how much does it cost? Yes the currency is stronger and all that jazz but when you compare things like this, its gotta be dollar to dollar isnt it? Singaporeans dont earn less then you(dollar to dollar).

SingTel currently offers a 21Mbps mobile broadband service that is priced at $69.30 with a two-year contract. There is no indication of how much 42Mbps is going to cost but even if its double(very unlikely) its still cheaper than what we pay for blady 2Mbps!

Some simple maths so it makes sense to me, i pay RM118 (RM88 + phone line rental) and i get 1Mbps. In a Singaporean context it would be (RM3 per Mbps [RM3.30 x 21 = RM63] )

So in a nutshell we pay 36 times more!!

Amazing ha! :)
