Samsung Galaxy Mini 2

If you are a mobile phone user who still hasn’t jumped on the Smart Phone bandwagon .. Pay attention! I know many who are happy with the Calling & SMS functions and dish out an average of RM 600 , this is the phone you need. Samsung released the Galaxy Mini 2 on the 14th of May 2012 in Malaysia to the appearance conscious consumers. While they say that it’s for the appearance conscious, I think that if you are looking to try out a Smart Phone but don’t want to part with too much money, this is your gig.

This 3.27″ screen device comes with a 800MHz processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage which is expandable through microSD (Supports up to 32Gb). In normal terms, it’s not as big as a iPhone, not as expensive as a iPhone but does the job! If you are wondering, wait now if it’s a entry-level .. What’s the camera like? It comes with a 3MP camera, this is almost as good as the iPhone 3GS which came with a 3.2 Megapixel camera. Whats surprising is for the price point, the Galaxy Mini 2 comes with Near Field Communication (NFC) support built-in,

This device runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) which is a very easy to use operating system which has more than 500,000 applications on Google Play, Android’s App Store. So if you are worried of how you are going to ‘graduate’ from your conventional phone to a Smart Phone, don’t fret .. It will be a very seamless and fun experience!

When i got my hands on the device, I was concerned on how slow the phone might be considering the processor but to my surprise the device responded very well to touch and has good response time. What i like best about the Android Operating System is the ability to customize the phone. There is no one formula, you are free to add widgets and set up multiple pages the way you want it.

Conclusion

If you are planing to try a smart phone and don’t want to dish out too much, this is the one for you. It’s very good value for money and perfect for the young, our parents or the elders who have not got onto a smart phone experience as well. Its retail price is only RM599 and available via major telco’s and phone shops around the country.

Maxis : How To Check Data Usage

Here’s a nice tip, this is how you can check how much you have exhausted off your monthly data usage from your monthly Maxis data package. Im on a 500MB plan which is sufficient for me as I’m on wifi when at home where I do my updates and other data hungry activities.

Using this method, you can ensure that you keep your data usage in check. If you don’t know already, it cost a bomb when you pass your monthly data cap so its good to check to ensure you don’t fall under that bracket.

Evolution of the iPhone

WIth the new iPhone due to be released in October, here is a cool infographic that compares the 5 generations that have braced the market. The device has changed the way we used our mobilie devices and toke Smartphones to the masses.

One thing really cool is just have a look at the app growth, from about 500 when the first iPhone was released against more than 500,000 today. For me, that’s what makes a great mobile experience.
