Windows Live Movie Maker

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

1080pRemember using the Windows Movie maker? Its probably one of the easiest software for wanna be movie makers like myself to use to create a more of a presentation with a movie feel to it. The New Windows Live Movie Maker is now live for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users. The best part about this software, its FREE!

Windows Live Movie Maker now includes several new and impressive transitions and visual effects that are easily accessible from the new Office 2007 like ribbon toolbar. You can even pin these to the title bar of the program for quick access.

Movie Maker can render videos in full High Definition (1080p) format and you also have the option to upload movies directly to YouTube just like in Google’s Picasa software.Pretty neat eh!

165586-livesearch_350Looks like Microsoft has set its sights on taking on the search champion Google with the launch of its own BING! I had a look at the look and feel and im not too sure if its a service ill be patronizing for now but lets give them the benefit of the doubt and see how it pans out.

It was rumoured to be called kumo but i supposed the boys at microsoft decided against it and went with Bing instead.

Here are some reviews of th new search engine :

Would You Buy Vista?

Monday, April 6th, 2009

I was at a computer shop a few days ago to help a friend get a new pc. While getting this done, i was looking at the various OS that was available. So there was XP and the different versions of Vista. So i asked the shop dude if people still buy Vista licences. Without a shadow of doubt he told me.. YEA! Its Vista, its great.. People buy it all the time.

windows-7

So i was wondering, since Windows 7 is at very advanced stages of development and is anticipated to be release by the end of this year or next year, why would anyone get Vista?? Reviews seem to be very promising and most people i know who has downloaded the beta versions cant wait for it to come out.

I use and own a original Vista Ultimate license and i was wondering if what sort of incentive do i get to upgrade? Imagine how someone who buys Vista now would feel when Windows 7 comes out?

Would you buy a original Vista license, go open source and wait for 7 to come out before deciding?

Windows 7 Beta Revealed

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Windows 7 was officially unveiled to developers at its Professional Developers Conference 2008. The new Microsoft OS which is due to be launched on 2010 is already on beta and hopefully it will be a version that will please many. When ever Microsoft comes up with a new OS there is too much scepticism but i personally am looking forward to the new version which i hear will be lighter and give users the “work how you want to” experience.

Im no expert IT guy but the very interested to learn and use IT solutions that is easy on the system and the pocket while providing the maximum value to the customer. But my wish list are :

  • Simplified versions and not too many choices like its predecessors (more…)

Microsoft Anti Piracy Day

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Microsoft has declared the October 21st as Global Anti-Piracy Day.  Basically this means they now mean business and are going to start a crack down on the fake softwares out there.Microsoft will be using this as a platform to step up legal action against software pirates though raids by local law enforcement agencies and by filing civil cases against pirates across the globe.

So all of you who are on fake OS’s time to get yourself legit before the big boy starts marking you down as a potential donor :) Im on a genuine Vista Ultimate and thank god for that :)

You can read the legal action here.

Justification Behind Windows 7

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Well the cat is out of the bag ,the new Microsoft OS which is due to be launched in a couple of years time. But why is it called Windows 7? There were all kinds of theories of the naming. Some very very bizarre justification but some were practical . Now the VISTA Blog’s Mike Nash explained the justification behind the the naming of the much anticipated OS.

The very first release of Windows was Windows 1.0, the second was Windows 2.0, the third Windows 3.0.

Here’s where things get a little more complicated.  Following Windows 3.0 was Windows NT which was code versioned as Windows 3.1. Then came Windows 95, which was code versioned as Windows 4.0.  Then, Windows 98, 98 SE and Windows Millennium each shipped as 4.0.1998, 4.10.2222, and 4.90.3000, respectively. So we’re counting all 9x versions as being 4.0.

Windows 2000 code was 5.0 and then we shipped Windows XP as 5.1, even though it was a major release we didn’t’ want to change code version numbers to maximize application compatibility.

That brings us to Windows Vista, which is 6.0.  So we see Windows 7 as our next logical significant release and 7th in the family of Windows releases.

So there you have it it was a simple numbering system with the OS’s that were launched which ultimately equated to the new OS being the 7th version hence WINDOWS 7

Windows 7

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Microsoft has announced that the latest version of Windows, due in the next couple of years, will be called -  Windows 7!

Microsoft users who have been sticking to Windows XP like glue since everyone was waiting for someone to migrate to Vista first(which hardly happened) are now waiting for the new OS to get launched before deciding if Windows 7 is the way to go.

CEO’s and CFO’s must be extremely happy that Microsoft is conceding that Vista is not exactly their best product and its another case of the Windows ME which was crap. This means they dont have to migrate and its no money spent for a while in upgrading and since the world economic situation is not at its best, its perfect timing to make this announcement.

Well…its still in 2 years time meanwhile, you can stay updated from the Windows Vista Blog
