Nano Sim

The new iPhone uses a the New Nano Sim card, a even smaller sim compared to the MicroSim that was used on the iPhone 4 & 4S. The 5 x 12mm MicroSim which seemed small compared to the 25 x 15mm Sim card is going out of fashion as well with the 12.3 x 8.8mm Nano Sim, telco’s are going to be flooded with request for the new sim. Why?

When the MicroSim was launched, users simply cut their existing Sim’s to work. The new Nano Sim is slightly thinned as well measuring 0.67mm compared to 0.76mm.

Maxis has announced that the Nano Sim will be available from the 24th of September onwards for RM 25 at Maxis Centres in KLCC, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Sunway Pyramid, The Gardens Mall, Penang’s Queensbay Mall and Johor Bharu’s Danga Bay. Other branches throughout the country are expected to receive it by late September.

Maxis: Samsung Galaxy SIII or iPhone 4S for RM599

Maxis is offering Maxis One Club members the Samsung Galaxy SIII and the Apple iPhone 4S for s superb price of just RM599. The offer is valid from June 9 to 24 and is available at all Maxis Centres and participating Maxis Exclusive Partner stores nationwide.

To qualify for the Samsung Galaxy SIII, all members need to do is commit to the ValuePlus 150 plan and above with a 1GB data plan for 24 months. This plan will also provide members with the best in voice rates and internet. MOC members who are interested in the iPhone 4S (16GB) need to sign up for the iValue 2 plan for 24 months.

Maxis : Automatic Data Upgrades

Maxis are currently upgrading their data packages for current users. I’m not sure of the various upgrades but both my wife and I have been upgraded to slightly better packages. It’s perfect timing for us, with the recent iOS 5 upgrades our data usage has increased and i found myself reaching or passing the limit with one week to go to my next billing cycle.

Our Upgrades 

Account 1
iValue 1 (iPhone) package. It was on a 500MB data for RM50.
Upgraded to 1GB for NO Extra Cost

Account 2
Regular 500MB data package for RM58
Upgraded to 1.5GB for No Extra Cost

Since account 1 got only a 500MB compared to a 1GB upgrade for account 2, i decided to call to check and apparently maxis has drawn up a new data to cost package, this upgrade of 1 GB is given to those who were with paying RM58 for 500MB ONLY.

I’m not complaining, not too sure if it’s the most competitive but i give props to Maxis for this automatic upgrade.

Maxis : How To Check Data Usage

Here’s a nice tip, this is how you can check how much you have exhausted off your monthly data usage from your monthly Maxis data package. Im on a 500MB plan which is sufficient for me as I’m on wifi when at home where I do my updates and other data hungry activities.

Using this method, you can ensure that you keep your data usage in check. If you don’t know already, it cost a bomb when you pass your monthly data cap so its good to check to ensure you don’t fall under that bracket.

Maxis Launches Multiple-Play Service

Maxis has officially launched the first multiple-play service in Malaysia with its Maxis Home Services. The service is available to customers in fiber connected areas nationwide.

What that means?

Users can now choose multiple-play service where they have the freedom to choose the rich content and services that they want, in the formats of their choice and be able to view these through multiple screens, be it their computers, tablets or mobile phones, at a time and place convenient to them.
