I Talk, You Listen

Monday, June 29th, 2009

untitled.bmp

I was checking out the 6th Prime Minister of Malaysia’s website 1Malaysia and started following him on twitter as well just to see how the new Prime Minister will engage with Malaysians and if its a genuine interest to listen or?  The website gave me the impression as very cosmetic and it was run by a web team and I’m not sure if the PM has any input into the website.

Then when i reached his twitter page, i was right… Not much has changed! Its another i talk, you listen case. He had 2,087 followers at the time this print screen was taken and he does not follow anyone!

How?

The last La Salle Brother Says Goodbye

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

paul0105NThe La Salle brothers have said goodbye to the very education institute that that they formed with the intention to educate. I always beleived that passion is the no 1 ingredient to be successful in anything that anyone does. The La Salle brothers had that in abundance and were out to educate the children of Malaysia.

I was part of this very institution from primary till secondary school and unfortunately was not part of this revolution as the locals started taking office. From the previous students, i was told how strict and dedicated in nuturing the students but i didnt see much of that from the precedesors of the brothers.

Brother Paul Ho, the last of La Salle’s brother principals in Malaysia, was given a grand send-off by staff and students of the St Xavier’s Institution (SXI) in Farquhar Street yesterday.

Brother Paul, who was the first local to serve as principal in the school’s 157-year history, retired on Friday after serving nearly 16 years at the school.

Thank you, La Salle brothers for your dedication and your vission in making the entire La Salle institution what it is today. Hopefully there will be more dedication, passion in the future that help builds quality future instead of just a future.

Power Strugle

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

n_24kayveas

Since March 8th 2008 our nation has been in one heck-u-va political limbo. There have been by elections after by-elections(some natural and some not) there have been change of leadership, there have been hostile take overs and even challenges within parties.

As a Malaysian its sick to have such a situation. Yes, we are lucky that we are in a country that does not have war and riots but that does not mean we should be using that as a excuse. Politicians come in many different shapes, sizes and motives.

Some are genuine, some have interest and some are pure rubbish. Whats funny is when the politicians come out and say the dumbest things with a straight face and when they get criticized for it, they get offended! :) I was at a bookshop over the weekend and stumbled upon a book called “Malaysian politicians say the darnest things“. Not surprisingly there was a certain “semi value” who featured very frequently and it makes me wonder if we have been blind, deaf or pure ignorant all these years!

This whole political limbo must end! Its becoming soo sickening that Malaysians who had some hope are loosing that now and its time that they got to work and stop politicking! Have you seen the latest political strugle in PPP? The BN component party is having a power struggle to decide who is the leader of the party.

They suspend the contender, then the contender becomes the party leader then the incumbent leader tells him to go form his own party! ….Its a JOKE!

Its sickening simply reading the papers everyday. The kind of reports of how you said this and i do that is making the papers look like some sorta comic strip!

One School For ALL MALAYSIANS

Monday, May 18th, 2009

322755-1241884452-mainMy cousins in Singapore tell me about how it is compulsory for them to learn their mother tongue language and they are happy do so. I was a public school where Tamil,Chinese,Punjabi were not offered as a main subject and even if was at that time, i wouldn’t have appreciated it back then but today looking back… I wish i actually had that option. With modern times and the pace, everyone is conveniently forgetting the importance of your own mother tongue.

With Tamil and Chinese schools, in my view it does not allow the future of the country to learn the other race, religion and how to live happily with each other. I feel that keeping the same kind in a the same spot for a bit too long will breed a very narrow and hopefully not “racist” crop. I could be wrong but i don’t care because i believe that everyone should be exposed to everything and thought how to live happily with each other.

If we want to be Malaysia, we first need to learn that we are all Malaysians. We need to understand how each race and religion is unique and special and nothing but mutual respect will make us great!

A group of bloggers have started a petition to call for 1 school for all Malaysians and i support this cause! Have a look at the petition here and sign it if you think you want to support it as well!

Classic Cars in Malaysia

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

img_0004

I was listening in to BFM about classic cars in Malaysia. It was a very interesting chat with Robbie Krishnan, the MD of AMC Motor Inc (M) Sdn Bhd. Little did i know about the business in Malaysia and the perks that it offers.

It is definitely a niche area in Malaysia where enthusiast of classics cars will take interest off and tells you about how to rate, buy, sell and all about owing a classic car in Malaysia.

I went over to the website to have a look at some of the beautiful rides in display and its breath taking! Cars you normally see on tv are available right here in our backyard! Its brilliant!

So if you are thinking of getting your self a classic car for your wedding, anniversary or even your photo shoot, these are the boys you should be calling!

Listen to the podcast (more…)
