The Andy Carroll Story

Andrew Thomas “Andy” Carroll (born 6 January 1989 in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England) is an English footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Liverpool and the England national team.

The fee of £35 million paid by Liverpool for Caroll’s transfer from Newcastle United on 31 January 2011 is the highest ever amount for a British footballer.[3] Carroll is the eighth-most expensive footballer in history and also the second-most expensive player playing for a British club, behind Fernando Torres, who moved from Liverpool to Chelsea for £50 million on the same day Carroll signed for Liverpool.

Below is Andy Carroll’s story so far from a 17 year old Newcastle player to the most expensive British player after his move to Liverpool in Jan 2011.

Stoke 1 Liverpool 0

4th match of the season saw LFC heading to the Britannia Stadium to take on Stoke City. Stoke City is one of the teams that have done very well in the BPL. Gone are the days where there were 4 really strong teams and the rest of the league scrambling for their survival in the Premier League, the leagues is much wider now. There are 6 teams in my view who can challenge for the tittle and there is a good 10 teams who are pushing to break into that top 6. And then there is the relegation battle.

LFC went into this match with pretty much a new team. Many players have left the team and the new signings are now carrying the team forward under the guidance of Kenny Dalglish.

The match ended with Jon Walters’s penalty which he won and scored. But the interesting stat was that Liverpool had 73% possession in the match but was unable to break down the resilient Stoke defense who defended with their lives to hold on to the 20th minute goal.

Make no mistake, Liverpool had a good 70 minutes to find an equalizer leave alone a winning goal but it was just not their day. What was truly good for me was the way the team passed the ball around and the constant attacking to find the goal. Should have done much better and convert the opportunities that were created, a certain Jordan Henderson could have been the star but his attempts were defended by the constant sliding and diving to ensure the Stoke net went un-breached.

Yes its a the first defeats but im optimistic, Liverpool must keep going to be up there in the mix come the new year which will be the indication if Liverpool will be in the mix to challenge for the elusive tittle that we have been waiting for – YNWA

The 3rd Liverpool match of the season was last night. The 2nd match that was played at anfield brought Bolton visiting Kenny Dalglish’s re-energized side. Bolton are always a side to reckon with their back from injury striker Ivan Klasnic leading the stike force.

The game was all Liverpool in my opinion with a few moments of dominances from Bolton. For a fan, it was a superb show. The team came out with confidence and passed the ball around with confidence. For me the star of the match has got to be Hendo, the 16Mil siging from Sunderland toke a few matches to get into his stride but its clear that the team is slowly coming together.

The opening goal came from Hendo, followed by a thundering header from subsitute Skrtel who came on for the injured Kelly in the 2nd half and Charlie wraped up proceedings with a nicely taken shot. Bolton pulled a goal back in the dying minutes of the match.

Lots of positives to take from the performance but i beleive that the team is still miles away from the finished product. Its still early days to say anything but one day at a time, it boils down to consistency and the table come May 2012.

Arsenal 0 Liverpool 2

Amazingly this is Liverpool’s first win at the Arsenal for 11 years! The perfect season to end the hodoo with Kenny Daliglish new look Liverpool side. When you have players like Suarez and Meireles starting on the bench you know that you have a good team with strength in depth.

To be fait the fist 45 minutes was not exactly end to end stuff with both teams getting their footing. Carroll scored 2 dissallowed goals which also earned him a yellow card. Hopefully he starts scoring goals before the whistle so that it can be counted but never the less signs are that he is slowly getting into the Liverpool way.

Meireles & Suarez came on and the that was the difference, the entire team sparked to live and the both paired up to put Ramsey under preasure to score a own goal and another with Suarez scoring from a unselfish pass from Meireles to earn the 3 points.

Arsenal looked very jaded, nothing like the Arsenal that we are used too wit the fluid passing. The only player who was lively was Emmanuel Frimpong until he got sent off for the 2nd bookable offence. The rest of the team practically were poor in my view.

On the other hand, things are slowly settling with the brand new Liverpool team and it is on the up, we are far from any sort of form but as long as we are earning the 3 points, i dont think anyone will be complaining. The likes of Charlie Adam’s and Henderson have some work to do to gel into the team and the style and surely they could be very useful assets sooner rather than later.
