I finally completed my linux trial with the installation of ubuntu on my notebook. Its now effectively a dual boot with Vista Ultimate(ORIGINAL) and Ubuntu(FREE). I was testing out ubuntu over the weekend and i must say its been a pure joy to use!! Its super customizable, that means you only install what you use and leave out what you don’t use and its light!

Lets say you were to buy a new pc, the OS probably cost you about RM900 (Vista Basic) and Microsoft Office about RM 900 (Office Basic) and then you have other softwares like the cd burning and anti virus which cost money as well.

Now lets look at the other side of the spectrum, You go with Ubuntu(linux) FREE, Open Office which has your word, spreadsheets and presentation utilities (FREE) and it comes with heaps of other softwares which are free as well. Then there are superb browsers like firefox and thunderbird email client which are simply great!! That means you spend ZERO on software and can pump that money into some superb hardware or not and take the girlfriend out for some shopping
When it comes to open source there are heaps of solutions out there by independent programmers who are doing it merely for the passion, if you have a few bucks to spare..simply send it to them and that will keep them going to create more better softwares for you!
Im no IT champion but anyone can do all this if i can do it!! So if you have that computer running on pirated softwares its time to re-evaluate all this and go original..FOR FREE!!
If you need help in getting all this setup, there are may IT dudes out there who would love to help you set this up for a few bucks!!
After tasting ubuntu, I’m contemplating getting rid of the Vista but i think i might just hold my horses for a while till im 100% sure, moreover i still have the option of using either if i wanted too
You can get UBUNTU HERE (which comes with open office)
