Tattoo Convention 2009- Kuala Lumpur

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Tattoo Convention Kuala Lumpur 2009 will be at PWTC (Hall2) from the 6th till 8th November 2009. All thanks to Borneo Ink and gimmelovetattoo for sponsoring the event.

Its always awesome to check out lots of tattoo artist in one space and showing off new techniques, art work and trends from around the world. I think that the tattoo community in Malaysia is rather small and it be nice to see who else is there that could put some more ink to my skin! I have been warned not to put any ink on my skin this year but next year onwards …. :)

Time to Fine Litter-Bugs?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

spotter1Litter-Bugs are like culture for Malaysians. How many times have you seen a piece of tissue flying out of the car in front of you. Or a can being thrown to the side of the road after being consumed? There was a article in the papers of how DBKL was hitting out at party goers who messed up the streets after a massive Christmas Eve celebration.

DBKL very rightly pointed out that it was every-one’s right to party and have a good time moreover its the holiday season and those who fancy partying will let their hair down and release some steam. But what ever reason, it needs to be done with some sence of responsibility. (more…)

Jalan Alor Stays…We Hope

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

The name change of Jalan Alor to Jalan Kejora has become the talk of the town. From the hawkers to tourist to the ordinary citizen was not too pleased about the name that has become more of a houshold name for its eateries for over 35 years sudenly got a new name to fit the other names of streets around it.

In the latest development Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique has said that Jalan Alor will keep its name! This can be only good news for 2 reasons the way i see it.

1) The street which name is already known can stay the way it is and people will be able to easily find it and not go in circles because its called Jalan Kejora now!

2) The government are actually listening to the cries of the people and taking it seriously! ITS ABOUT TIME!

Having said all that, i hope that the government will be more sensitive towards issues like renaming streets, as lots of people take pride in “minor issues” like this and its important to get the general consensus before making such harsh decisions. The nation belongs to the people that live in it and not a few people who has the power.

What Identity?

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Imagine if you be brought being called ALOR. From the time you are a baby, till you start walking then when you reached school where everyone that came in contact with you called you nothing but ALOR. Then some wise person decided that ALOR was not a right name for you and decided to call you KEJORA.

Suddenly people started calling you Kejora but couldn’t relate to you because they only knew you as ALOR. Thats exactly what happened to one of  Kuala Lumpur’s most popular hawker hotspots. Im surprised that even famous landmarks like Jalan Alor can get a name change without of its biggest stakeholders, the hawkers!

Even thoug the name of Jalan Alor is still placed before the new Jalan Kejora in a small white space, i feel that its not appropriate! Where is the heritage, what happens to the identity, what happens to history?? I guess…its HISTORY all right!

Do you know of any other roads that have been changed because someone felt that its better off to be known as something else??

Shocking!

No Hindu Temples For KL?

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

This is a piece of very disturbing news, according to the Master plan for City of Kuala Lumpur by 2020. No temples and 2 existing Hindu Crematoriams have been identified. Is there a plan to wipe out all the Hindu temples and crematoriums or simply over looked?

The Hindu Sangam are very worried with this latest development have met and discussed this very issue.

All those who are not able to obtain the DBKL Master Plan Books are requested to go online and visit KLCity2020 website and try and identify the location of their temple. It does not matter whether the temple is registered with ROS or with our MHS or is said to be illegal and of the temple is not identified in the plan please get the forms from DBKL or ring 012-392 5995 (Mr. Gunaraj), 012-328 7823 (Mr.Chin), 016-3674304 (Mr. Thiagaraj) or 016-277 1495 (Ir. Ariathavaratnam) for advice or on how to obtain the forms.

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

The long anticipated WiMax service under wireless KL starts Today!! Packet One (P1), will officially roll out its services today, at monthly rates that are expected to range from RM60 for 400Kbps to over RM100 for its highest speed of 2.4Mbps.

P1 is one of the 4 licensee’s of Wimax together with REDtone International Bhd, YTL e-Solutions Bhd and Asiaspace Dotcom Sdn Bhd.

This is a long over due competition to streamyx which has been the monopoly in the market for way too long with its quite frankly below par services.

Pasar Road

Monday, August 18th, 2008

If you are from KL, Pasar road has got the reputation of being a electronic heaven for the not so rich! Its a street filled with shops selling all sorts of electronic items at cheap cheap prices. Danny and I decided to go to pasar road because i was looking for a small knife and a torch for my upcoming trip to the forest.

When we got there as usual the whole area was packed with stalls everywhere. This area is infamous for its walkway stalls who sell from batteries to mobile phone accessories to binoculars to Viagra to ecstasy to even dildos! (more…)

MRR 2 Cracks..AGAIN

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

The Middle Ring Road(2) highway [MRR2] is closed again!! Yeap, the cracks have re-appeared for the 3rd time!! It was first closed in August 2004 and then for the second time in February 2006 for repairs. The stretch, part of the RM238 million Package 11 of the MRR2, was built by a consortium comprising Bumi Hiway, Sukmin and KKMJB on plans drawn upby the engineering firm of Maunsell, Sharma and Zakaria Sdn Bhd.

The last time there was a crack the government spent RM70 mil to fix it and its come un done again! Maybe there should be a review of all highway’s and roads that were built by Uncle Sam’s ministry before something major happens
