What is the Semantic Web?

The Semantic Web is a web that is able to describe things in a way that computers can understand.

* The Beatles was a popular band from Liverpool.

Mobile Browsing Is Green-ER?

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Did you know that updating your Facebook status once on your PC consumes the same amount of energy as updating it a hundred times on your phone

Nokia says that updating your Facebook status from a mobile phone consumes about 100 times less energy than if you were to do the same activity from a desktop PC.

Also, if only 100 million people were to use mobile phones instead of desktop computers to browse the Internet one hour a day, the amount of energy saved would be roughly equivalent to the annual greenhouse gas emissions of 430,000 cars.

There are about 1.4 billion Internet users worldwide and around 46% of them use Internet from both PC and their mobile phones according to this chart from DataViz.

Google’s Fiber Experiment

Friday, February 12th, 2010

If you havent heard yet, Google is planning to build experimental ultra high-speed broadband networks in a small number of trial locations across the United States to make the Internet better and faster.

Apparently its a small no that they are targetting (even though 500,000 households is not exactly a tiny number) but you can nominate your community to be part of this project.

Google, pls come to Malaysia! We need you!! :S
