One that im looking forward too : The story of Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane’s successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players.
I am looking forward to this one, its based on the book Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game ;
What is it about?
Moneyball is a quest for the secret of success in baseball. Following the low-budget Oakland Athletics, their larger-than-life general manger, Billy Beane, and the strange brotherhood of amateur baseball enthusiasts, Michael Lewis has written not only “the single most influential baseball book ever” (Rob Neyer, Slate) but also what “may be the best book ever written on business” (Weekly Standard).
I wrote this book because I fell in love with a story. The story concerned a small group of undervalued professional baseball players and executives, many of whom had been rejected as unfit for the big leagues, who had turned themselves into one of the most successful franchises in Major League Baseball. But the idea for the book came well before I had good reason to write it—before I had a story to fall in love with. It began, really, with an innocent question: how did one of the poorest teams in baseball, the Oakland Athletics, win so many games?

I found out about this only recently and i got straight to Astro to evaluate my current package and to see if im paying the lowest price for what i have. I used to pay about RM145 for my entire package (including HD services) and did not have the movie package. Now i dont have the Metro Package but i have movies(which is not cheap!) and i only have to pay RM125. Not bad a savings!
Here is newly introduced Superpacks which i think that everyone should check out! You could end up saving a bit more than you are paying already. The bigger your package the better your savings!
Its probabaly a good idea to consider getting the PVR as well, there is a 50% discount happening right now!
I have probably made about 10 calls to Astro to check on how on earth to control the volume using my astro byond remote control but never have i had a fix. There was some that told me that its the software and nothing can be done ,there was another that told me that that’s the way HD is and the one that takes the cake is that my tv was not compatible with Byond..DUDE! WTF?!
So i had a problem with my decorder which kept freezing. I lodged a call and the Astro service dude fixed it using the ancient art of, REPLACING THE DECORDER without no troubleshooting what so ever -BRILLIANT!
The image ratio was all over the place after this change so i called astro up and i got Mr.Subra!
Mr.Subra seemed like he knew a tad more than the ones i spoke before him. He helped me fix the picture problem, now all channels are “fit to screen”.The cool thing is Subra knew how to fix the problem but this was subjective to the tv brand that you have. Mine was a Samsung and he knew how to fix it!!
So this is how Continue reading »
Byond is the brand spanking new introduction by Astro providing Malaysia their first taste High Definition tv (even though other parts of the world have had it for a while, in fact are already experiencing 3D viewing). While Astro have invested apparently millions in the roll out, they must have forgotten about paying someone to update their website.

Notice the Coming Soon sign under ESPN HD
I have been watching the ESPN on HD since the 30th of January 2010 so whats coming soon astro?
So every new product has its bugs. I enjoy watching my favourite games and movies on HD but the Byond remote control simply wont let me control the volume! That means, that its stuck at a level(which i hope isnt max, cause its pretty low) so i have to control it via the tv.
I thought that it was only me but after some checking apparently its a issue right now with those who use Byond.
Hopefully it gets fixed soon and im keen to see what the aps button & how to use the very tempting usb slots are for!
Do you have the same issue?
