It all starts today! The best atheletes of the world gather at China this year to compete for glory, pride and the spirit of humanity! I for one love to watch the games because, when do you ever get a chance to watch the best in one venue. China have come a long way to prepare for this games in getting their act together socially, environmentally and many many other factors.
Im looking forward to watch the opening ceremony. Normally when the games are in Asia, the opening and cloings are prety awesome because the Asian countries are rich in culture which they showcase in this very event at its best.
Now for the games it self..I will be watching athletics, football, swimming, badminton and a little of everything else
Its 08-08-08 and at 8.08pm the games will begin! Yey!

AirAsia To Fly Guilin

No thats not just a screen saver image, its the city of Guilin in China. This city is one of the best-known tourist destinations in China. There are many scenic places within short traveling distance of Guilin. These include Longshang with its famous Longji rice terraces; The Li jiang river, a scene of which is printed on the back of ¥20 bank notes; Yangshuo, a small city downstream form Guilin; and much more. This makes Guilin an excellent base for exploring the northern end of Guangxi region. Guilin is a beautiful city. The town center is surrounded by two rivers and four lakes and studded with shear sided karst mountains. Outside the city center, the buildings are less well kept. The main industry in the city is tourism.
Guess what, AirAsia will be flying to Guilin starting the 3rd of September 2008.This town will be its 7th destination to China. There will be four weekly flights between the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal in Sepang and Liangjiang Airport in Guilin.
AirAsia is offering a special launch fare starting at RM88 for the booking period until Sunday. Log on to AirAsia and book those tickets!! I have not been to China yet but this one looks pretty nice, first i need the money :S !!

China Olympics

Its a Olympics year this year! This edition will be hosted by the fastest growing economy of the world, China! This installement is also set to be one of the most controversial Olympics ever with many requirements to host by the International Olympic Committee with the games nearing.
There have been so much drama with regards to the torch runs have not gone as smoothly as one would expect with resistance in many legs of the torch run. People have been loosing their homes in older neighborhoods as Tiananmen Square looms in the background. Old buildings and alleyways are torn down to make way for modern development in preparation for the 2008 Olympics, often forcing residents from their homes without compensation.
In the name of development and preparations there are lots of un-pleasant things that are happening. I hope that these issues are looked at as criteria in awarding games to a nation.
Having said that, speed clean-up’s normally leaves many holes in the system, Should countries be given the honor of hosting a world event like the Olympics if there is so much dirt that is still no cleaned up?
This is a series of stories building up to the games..Watch this space

Quake hits China

May 13, 2008

A 7.9 magnitude quake has hit the mountainous area of Sichuan province across much of China on Monday afternoon.Nearly 10,000 people were killed by the earthquake that hammered southwest China and 900 teenagers were buried under a collapsed three-storey school building in the Sichuan city of Dujiangyan.
More and more natural disasters seem to be hitting countries all over the world lately and some at much larger scales than we are used too as a race. Is this a sign of things to come? I sure hope not!

China is in an undeclared space race with its Asian rivals

China has launched its first lunar orbiter, on a planned year-long exploration mission to the Moon. The satellite, named Chang’e 1, took off from the Xichang Centre in south-west China’s Sichuan province at 1800 local time (1000 GMT).
Analysts say it is a key step towards China’s aim of putting a man on the Moon by 2020, in the latest stage of an Asian space race with Japan and India
Earlier this month, a Japanese lunar probe entered orbit around the Moon.
India is planning a lunar mission for April next year.
