Respect the Ref!

Alan sent me this video that was created in conjunction with the new BLP season. This campaign is for players to respect the ref’s. Who we kidding, we can whine as much as we want but they definitely have a hard job at their hands! For a superb 08-09 season!

Avram Grant SACKED!

Chelsea manager Avram Grant has been sacked with immediate effect as the manager of Chelsea FC. This is the 2nd manager that has been sacked from the London club. Avram toke over from Jose Mourinho last season and has led Chelsea to the Champions league finals where they conceded the cup to Manchester United and toke the Premiership tittle to the last day of the season.

When he first joint Chelsea as the manager i wasn’t too sure that he would be able to achieve what he had done but the man has done well. Its become a trend in Chelsea who seem to be sacking managers who don’t produce the results.

The front runners for the job are Frank Riijkard,Guus Hiddink,Sven and Scolari. I personally would like to see Guus Hiddink but if he does well, it could be pretty hard on the other teams(being a Liverpool supporter myself!)

At least the Malaysians don’t have to worry about 2 Israelis coming into the country anymore :)

Liverpool FC Form Guide

If the form guide is anything to go by Liverpool is finally hitting some kind of form in the BPL. They are on a 8 game run since their last lost and scoring a staggering 24 goals in 8 games! With Benitez under fire from the American owners, Rafa had to let the results do the talking and the team responded with some awesome results.

Arsenal (H) 1-1
Cardiff City (H) 2-1
Blackburn Rovers (A) 0-0
Besiktas (H) 8-0
Fulham (H) 2-0
Newcastle United (A) 3-0
FC Porto (H) 4-1
Bolton Wanderers (H ) 4-0

To me Rafa has become more cautious in his approach, he is now taking games to teams and not worrying on seting up may he’s team according to how the opposition may come out to field.I feel this is key to ensuring they continue winning. The core of the team has got to be fixed and changes need to be done, players gain access to the first team based on form and fatigue. This is very important in the league at least! The manager can rotate and chop and change in cup games because that is a different cattle of fish.

Liverpool v Arsenal

Last night the two unbeaten teams in the league came head to head and if your a football fan,im sure you would have watched the match over Astro. I was a bit worried being a Liverpool fan cause in my opinion Arsenal simply play the best football in the league and Liverpool are not exactly playing good football. Liverpool came out with a attacking formation and pay dividends very early in the game with a superb Gerrard free-kick,then Arsenal started playing….

God, they are just a different class!! Credit has to go to Arsene Wenger for building a bunch of pure footballers! Have a look at the team, barely a household name in there but they kind of football they dish out week in week out is awesome! Arsenal always had the reputation for overplaying the ball sometimes expecting to walk the ball into the goal but this season they know how to score too!!

The game ended a 1-1 draw with Liverpool loosing Torres,Mascherano and Alonso to injury.Arsenal re-gained their top spot in the league and frankly i did not enjoy the Liverpool performance at all!! I’m hoping the team gets their act together fast and start scoring for fun again, its still not too late to mount a serious challenge on the leaders yet.
