blogfor FTIn an effort to promote the three Federal Territories, a competition was launched yesterday with about RM500,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.

Launched by the Federal Territories Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, the competition entitled “Blog for FT” will end on Jan 5 next year.

“Bloggers are free to write on lifestyle, tourism, music, heritage and culture, architecture, community events and life in Federal Territories. We also welcome constructive suggestions and ideas.”

Entries can be in the form of text, visual or video in either Bahasa Malaysia or English.

The competition is divided into four categories — general, juniors (aged 18 and below), Malaysian media and international category (non-Malaysians).

I didn’t realize that this blog is now 2! It all started on the 13th of August 2007 and many post,theme’s and plugins later im into my 3rd year! Not bad ha! I was looking at my first post and it was pretty interesting what a hobby has tought me over the 2 years! One of the best decisions i have ever made :) Hope you enjoyed it as much as i did!

If you havent heard yet, WWF-Malaysia is running a campaign called Egg=Life which is to get the support form the public so that that efforts can be made to put a stop to turtle egg consumption in Malaysia and hopefully improved laws to protect turtles that land in Malaysia! Its a 6 months campaign which started off with members of the public signing up the pledge and has evolved into something bigger with the introduction of the telur rangers!!

Needs some tips on how to run a high traffic blog?  Tim Ferriss shares covers a wide range of topics, from posting frequency to blogging tools and community building. The cool thing is that most of the stuff is coming from the tests that Tim run over the years.

After watching the video i realised that you need to get back to basics and look at why you post certain things where they are. Simple things like emails that you receive can be content! Label it as blog content and get back to it when you need too!

Related Post v Random Post

I was doing some site maintenance and cleaning up the plugins and theme’s for Delirium. While cleaning up the plugins and taking them up to date since there was a new 2.8 wordpress version. While doing this, i was considering removing the related post plugin. What is the related post plugin?

WordPress Related Posts Plugin will generate a related posts via WordPress tags, and add the related posts to feed.

It basically pulls out previous postings that are related to the posted article. Its determined by tags that were indicated in the post. Its served well for more than a year but i wanted to try something different.

Since i have more than 1,316 post in my record, it be a pity if my old postings were not read. So i decide to try out a new plugin to replace the related post plugin with a random post plugin .What does the random post plugin do?

The random post plugin pulls out a random list of old postings every time

This in my view is a pretty useful plugin! It basically takes the dirt off the old postings and bringing it back to live.The cool thing about this plugin is also that you can configure it the way you want it too work. I’m going to go with this plugin and it hopefully bring the old postings back to live!! If its already doing well, why promote it eh? :)

What is a PING?

Ping is a computer network tool used to test whether a particular host is reachable across an IP network; it is also used to self test the network interface card of the computer, or as a speed test. Since you know what a ping is now,In English that means :

Ping services allow you to automatically notify blog directories and search engines that your blog has been updated.

Yes, your next question is how on earth do you notify all those sites that you have a update on your blog? Seems a bit of a drag isn’t it? Well, its actually pretty easy.
