XP Stays Alive…For Now

MIcrosoft will be extending the life of ite beloved Win XP until at least June 30 2010.Microsoft, which had planned to kill off XP in January 2008 has apparently changed its plans due to the slow uptake of Windows Vista. I remember when i was still working in Hp and when Vista was launched the general perception of the new software was like it was the devil sent by Microsoft to the world filled with angels.

I on the other hand decided to upgrade to Vista Ultimate(original software for sure!) and dont have any problems with it so far. There is also rumour that XP will be available for one year after general availability of the next version of Windows’, codenamed Windows 7.

Im sure businesses who decided to migrate will be furious with this move and if Vista falls over and dies a premature death, it could spell some serious drama for the software giant with open source gaining some good mileage recently.

World Cup 2010 mascot revealed

The official mascot of the 2010 World Cup was unveiled yesterday in Johannesburg — a green-haired leopard named Zakumi — Fifa announced at a television gala broadcast nationwide.

.

Zakumi — the ZA stands for South Africa while kumi means 10 in assorted African languages — has been exclusively designed in the host country which will stage the continent’s first ever World Cup in 21 month’s time.

Its a huge task to stage the worlds biggest football stage and South Africa have ot their work cut out for them. Hopefully they do pull it through and make it the best tournament yet. Cant wait already! :)
