Yoga is banned, Bahasa Malaysia Next??

Here is something interesting, go to Google Images. Type in Yoga and do a search…Do you see one image on the main page that shows you the link between Yoga to Hinduism? I did that search and i didn’t get any images of any Indian or anything Hindu related. Anyway…

The National Fatwa Council has ruled that yoga is ‘haram” for Muslims.

Its chairman, Datuk Dr Abdul Shukor Husin said only the physical aspect of yoga, without the mantras and elements of worshipping outwardly, was not wrong (in Islam).

However, he said, yoga was not to be encouraged among Muslims for fear that it could erode their Islamic faith since the physical part was a component of yoga practice as a whole.

He said there were three stages to yoga practice, which originated from the Hindus: first, the physical aspect which is the exercise part; second the mantras and worshipping; and third the unification of oneself with God.

Ive got many Muslim friends who are not exactly happy with the sudden rescriction being place on them. The women were not spared as well with tomboys, short hair and even pants becoming issues. Anyway.. I was thinking along the similar lines of what could be the next to make the headlines and i thought..

BAHASA MALAYSIA!! I did a look-up on wiki and this is what i got :

The Malay language  was heavily influenced by Sanskrit, the lingua franca of Hinduism and Buddhism. The earliest known inscription in the Old Malay language was found in Sumatra, written in Pallava Script and dates back to 7th century – known as Kedukan Bukit Inscription, it was discovered by the Dutchman M. Batenburg on 29 November, 1920, at Kedukan Bukit, South Sumatra, on the banks of the River Tatang, a tributary of the River Musi. It is a small stone of 45 by 80 cm.

That’s not safe for consumption isnt it? Maybe we should stop using Bahasa Malaysia since there is heavy sanskrit in it and since sanskrit is the language of Hinduism and Buddhism it could potentially could erode their faith.

Sad case in my view, im not sure who exactly the authorities are trying to protect?? My Muslim friends have got their religion and beliefs in check and everyone respects that.

Yoga centre’s are not going to be happy about this! Its another form of exercise and i wont be suprised if we did a audit on Yoga centre’s and those who yoga ,you might find much much more non hindu’s practising it. Its a form of exercise for heavens sake! Where is our country heading too!?

    Dato’ AB,
When I look back at these issues – issues such as the banning of yoga, Ketuanan Melayu and special privileges – I can’t help myself to recall the reason why, in the first place, organized religion flourished. If you scoured through the history books, you will come across the reason why Islam was founded – or for the matter fact other religions with the exception of Hinduism, and probably Judaism, as Hinduism is not a religion but a decree of ‘way of life’. Citizens of those days had no rules and therefore incest, rape, robbery and other criminals was a norm. Prophet Muhammad then used Islam to muster the citizens to live a better and quality life. The message in Quran was simple but the core points were diluted when the ears failed the lips. People made many changes as the message was passed around to suit the situation at certain junctions of life. Even today people don’t question the validity of the Quran, Bible, or Bhagavad Gita. They do rote study and regurgitate when it’s required. One exception is, of course, with the Jews. They emphasize the importance of debating each entry in the Torah or Talmud. This according to them will better equip the community with a coherent understanding of their purpose of existence and the need to be on the same ‘page’ no matter how disperse their community is.

My point is the idea of organized religion has lost its validity and people are far too strayed from the original teach – the banning of yoga at this point of time after it has been practiced by people from all races proofs my point. Are we seeing the end of world? Perhaps the rampant and burgeoning rate of incest, rape, murder, war and other immoral activities or atrocities are signals rather than noises from the system. Perhaps a new religion will be born. Perhaps the world will end as per Nostradamus’s or the Mayan’s prediction.

To reach GOD, you don’t need to be religious but just spiritual.

Nice one man! I think are simply loosing it la! People taking matters into their own hands, deciding for the rest and the very core of respecting each other is slowly slipping away as well… It sure looks like we are self destructing and hopefully we wont kill each other man!
