American’s are now celebrating their new President. Americans now have a leader who will bring CHANGE to the way American’s treat each other, the way American’s treat other countries, the way Americans live and in a nutshell Obama has promised a birth of a New America! Closer to home, Malaysians, Singaporeans, Thai’s, Chinese, Indians are celebrating the victory like it was our own!!

I asked my self today :

Why on earth am i celebrating this historic win!

Why am I so happy that Obama is the new leader of America?

Why is my Muslim,Chinese,Indian and other friends of Malaysia celebrating this?

I could think of only one answer…We all want One thing!

WE WANT CHANGE!

When March 8th happened in Malaysia, it gave hope to Malaysians, we discovered that we as the citizens of this wonderful land have the opportunity to make a difference for the sake of our future. It toke US some 220 year to get the first black President.

In my life i have been blessed to see so many things that only my grandparents would have dreamt of witnessing. I know that our generation have a huge part to play!

If a nation like America can make such a drastic change for the sake of their future, we can too!

Malaysians are a wise bunch, we are often underestimated and treated like we are a bunch of kids in a kindergarten and the leaders were the teachers that tell us things which we are expected to listen too without question. The kids now days question information thrown at them, what else us??

I hope we reach this situation someday in Malaysia where the best person for the job gets it, where every Malaysian is taken care off, Nobody is discriminated and we live in a nation where everyone is respected and where Malaysians can and are proud to be Malaysians.

I have faith that someday we will get there!

As Obama said on the day he declared his candidacy back in Feb 2007 :

“In the face of impossible odds, people who love their country can change it.”
