Ties-tified!
12 May, 2008 – 9:31 amEveryone loves a party but what happens if a huge party is held in the beach in our soil where thousands of youths party along with a top artist till the wee hours of the morning with may lying intoxicated on the ground and clear signs of substance abuse is not something anyone should condone.

Tiesto was here last weekend and thats exactly what happened! Im not a fan of techno or trance or anything that consist of just loud beats. I had many friends who actually went for this and i don’t know if this was the general picture or was it just the few. My guess is it was the few bad apples who ended up smelling the grass till the sun came up. The MP of Por Dickson M Ravi paid a surprise visit to the party to find this sight.
Question
Should we allow such parties into our soil if this is going to be such un-ruly behaviour?

The parties should continue. We have to find ways to stop these substances from reaching the youths.
Everyone just want to get high….well this is not the place. Be smart!!

Trance-Guy was in town?
Its good to have international act’s to grace the beaches of Malaysia, but there are some things the organisers could have done to ensure that these un-wanted sightings..

Parties should go on.
Drugs should stay out though.

This is a classic knee jerk reaction in Malaysia. The problem does not lie with the music. And although the organizer could have done more to stop the rot, let’s be realistic, they can’t monitor what people put into their mouth or nose.
As for the beer and etc, well, they should be fined for allowing minors to buy alcohol and not observing the law.
But, here’s the thing, I listen to a wide variety of music. Some of my favorite tunes includes house music and some trance tracks by Tiesto. And yet, I have never done drugs or felt compelled to use it just because I these music.
I think Malaysia should focus on education, enforcement, curbing trafficking and rehabilitation in order to nip the problem at the bud. Stopping concerts and raves isn’t going to stop people from abusing drugs. They will turn to clubs, private parties or the comfort of their own home.
But back to the music.
Let’s be realistic. Beyonce isn’t going to cause a mass exodus of people racing to fornicate. Tiesto isn’t asking people to do drugs. So, let’s stop this Malaysian attitude of pointing the blame, when the actual responsibilities lie with the authorities to stop this moral and social problem. Now, that’s the bigger picture.
