Taare Zameen Par

0

I’m not much of a Hindi movie fan. To start with i don’t understand the language but occasionally i watch it by reading the subtitles and trying my best to enjoy the movie while doing that. Its like watching a Chinese movie and reading the subtitles but the intensity of the dudes flying from buildings to buildings can distract you (in a good way of course!)

Anyway..Sometime ago i was at my better half’s aunt’s place and a Hindi movie was shown on tv. It didn’t come across as your usual Hindi or Tamil movie where you had the usual boy likes girl but girls parents hate him and wants to kill him but they still end up getting married (with the aid of the dancers that appear outta thin air when they feel like lovey).

The movie was called Taare Zameen Par. It was a Amir Khan film and since i watched his debut into producing in Lagaan. For the record, Lagaan was a brilliant movie that was a Academy Award nominee. The movie reached the top 5 and lost it in the final round. So i had to watch Taare Zameen Par to see what this seasoned actor who was making his debut in directing had in store and boy was i not disappointed!

This movie based on the struggle of a child suffering from Dyslexia. He is then discovered by a teacher(Amir Khan) to have this disability and nurtures him through. It was pure brilliance in my view, the cast to the quality of acting was superb! This movie has been nominated as India’s entry to next year’s Oscar awards! It will be in the best foreign language film category and hopefully it does bag the award because it definitely deserves it(not that i have watched the other nominee’s :P )

Here’s a trailer for you who have not watched the movie and make sure to watch the Oscars next year February to see if he does win a Oscar for this superb movie!

Hindi/Tamil/whatever from India movies are generally cliched to death and contain things so illogical it makes Pokemon seem real.
But off and on there are real gems in those hundreds of crap coming out from India.
My personal fav of Amir Khan’s would be Lagaan, Dil chahta Hai and this one as well. Anything with “Datuk” Shah Rukh Khan is cliched to death, and anything with Salman Khan….nonsensical…although I admit I want to have that body! :P
