Malaysians, especially Muslims, must avoid being totally immersed in the internet culture, especially Facebook and Twitter, said Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.
Malaysia has been getting some heavy stone age comments coming from politicians and certain individuals. With the Allah issue taking headlines, Information Minister, Datuk Dr.Rais Yatim has came out in his usual style telling Malaysians not to (over) indulge in social networks such as Facebook & Twitter.
These kind of statements makes me real shy that we have such leaders in power. They are suppose to be the ones to lead the nation but the statements coming out of the “leaders” gives me the vibe that they think Malaysians are a bunch of immature bunch who dont know how to make decisions.
“We should not be quick to condemn or look down on those who do not use Facebook. Newspapers are still relevant, so is Facebook, but do not be carried away with everything and disregard the old system,”
Read the news papers you say Mr.Information minister? In order for me to read and trust a certain medium, i expect it to be of a certain quality but when a blind man can tell you that its partial rubbish, its hard to rely on the news papers as my source of information.
I think that Mr.Minister needs to understand that Malaysians are a mature bunch, we know right from wrong irrespective for race or religion. Maybe focusing on stepping up your game within your ministry that you are in charge off. Give us Malaysians confidence in the information and delivery, please don’t tell us what to do and not to do when your own back yard is not the cleanest.
*Maybe we should all stop social networking, watching astro and watch RTM ha!
