Back in Dec 2007 i got my self a Belkin Wireless Modem/Router from ALL IT Hypermarket at digital Mall in PJ. The reason i got my wireless setup done was so i don’t have to worry about wires running around my pigeon hole and i can connect to the Internet anywhere i want to using my notebook.
One of the main reasons i went with Belkin was because of the warranty which was a lifetime warranty which no other manufacturer was giving. I didn’t think i would have to worry about it for a while but bad luck striked me just before the Deepavali weekend. My wireless router/modem decided to die on me and i needed to replace it.
I was told by a friend that i only needed to go to ALL IT where i purchased the unit and they will do some diagnostics before putting in a claim for a replacement for me. Since I’m a bit of a itchy fingers, i decided to take matters into my own hands and called the Belkin support number which I’m pretty sure went to India. A lady who claimed her name was Jane(her real name probably is Aiswarya Rai but since she was supporting the region, she decided Jane would be the way to go to avoid questions)spoke to me collecting my information and the unit’s info before going through a simple diagnostic over the phone.
After the diagnostics, she decided that my unit was faulty but i needed to speak to a Level 2 tech support before a confirmation of replacement is given.
I was put through to a Jim(another Indian support agent, god knows what he’s real name is) only collected my case number before confirming that a replacement will be done. I needed to wait for a email from the “team” who will process my claim. He told me it would take about 48 business hours before i received this email.
Fair enough, i waited… The next day, i received this email which confirmed the replacement ands it read :
Since they advised that i called the center before going in to ensure stocks were available, i did just that and was told that all i need to do is go into the shop where i purchased this unit with the receipt, the faulty unit and the email above and the replacement will be done.
So i went to ALL IT with the 3 items and produced it at their “network counter”. A kind gentlemen toke this items, checked the serial number and gave me a brand new unit!! It was brilliant! No questions asked and a immediate one to one replacement!
This is why i believe that you should purchase your gear at a reputable shop instead of a stall because when support or warranty comes in, you know where to go and they normally hold stocks. Imagine if I had to go to a stall shop who doesn’t carry stock or is impossible to track down??
I was very happy with the service and the responses with all parties involved and would recommend Belkin and ALL IT to anyone who wants to purchase their IT gear. Congrats and I’ve got no regrets with my choices!
