31st of August 2010 marks the 53 years since independence back in 1957. Its a celebration to remember the day we became a independent country from the British rule and become a nation of our own. Its a long time since we became a entity of our own, many leaders came and went. Many politicians came and went,some inspired ..some not so but that has contributed to where we are today.
For me this Merdeka is much much more than what we are told its supposed to be. Yes, it was not easy getting where we are but if we keep using that as a excuse, its going to be a challenge moving forward. Remember the work of those who got us here, but also remember they did what they had to do.. it was their job!
Its a different challenge right now, we are lead by a government who are in a unfamiliar spot of not having full control. Finally there is a opposition worthy of giving them a run for their money and challenge the wrongs and make the rights, even better.
That’s just politics and politicians will be politicians which ever their alliance may be.
As a whole, i think we can do much better. We have to think of us as a unit and not separate entities. Race,religion are personal for me. Not something that you use to divide people which politicians tend to use for their own, selfish but they obviously arent as creative as they ask us to be and will do anything and everything to stay in power.
My hope for Malaysia, hopefully we can build a nation that our children can prosper in. A nation that does not discriminate and a nation that considers ourselves Malaysians. Its a long road and we have to stick together to make this happen, is our home..its our project!
