Badminton is apparently the favorite Malaysian Sport(since we have some joy out of it).The clearest thing i can remember was when we won the Thomas Cup Finals when we hosted it. The team was then represented by Foo Kok Keong(the guy with the really short shorts), Rashid Sidek,Kwan Yoke Meng,Razif&Jalani Sidek and Cheah Soon Kit & Soo Beng Kiang.Since the we have consistently become a force nobody cares about Even the European Nations aren’t too bothered!
Lately we had appointed Rexy Mainaky to be our coach and he has instilled some steel into the team even the girls are taking a piece of the cake.
Chew Choon Eng (left) and Chan Chong Ming with their 2002 Asian Games Bronze Medal The same year they also won the Commonwealth Games doubles gold medalThe duo, who split up in 2004, are back together for this month’s Malaysia Open. Hope they can regain their glamor and very eager to see them in action, not forgetting our top seed, Koo Kian Keat/Tan Boon Heong, Lee Wan Wah/Choong Tan Fook, Lee Chong Wei, Wong Mew Choo…
I’m hoping to go catch a match of 2 this time around and details are below :
Date: 15-20 January 2008
Location: Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil
