In Malaysia we have the MyKard. This apparently is a break through technology that was implemented to bring Malaysia to the new era of technology and to ease life for all Malaysians. Yes it looks good and it consolidates your identification, your license information(which is still not at 100%) and the touch n go!
Anyway.. Did you know that Estonia is another country that has implemented a similar solution but they have since taken their version which they call the ID Card and ran with it.
Pretty much looks and feels the same as the MyKard isnt it? Well, yes thats about the only similarity between the MyKard and Estonia’s ID Card. As usual we come up with very good ideas fast and gets implemented fast but what happens after that? We very seldom evaluate how this can be further improved. Its like our transportation system, when there is a need to improve the system we get a refresh of the buses used! That’s improving the transportation system apparently but have you seen the condition of the apparent refreshed buses after a year? Have you heard of improved networks? I haven’t at least!
Anyway…To give you a idea of what Estonia have done, watch the video below!
Congrats to Estonia and we should learn a thing or two from them!

hahahha Malaysia? hahahahha
Wait la, the idea will come up, then they will contract it to some datuk, he will make 50% and then pass it on to a crappy comp to roll out a crappy solution
Dude, all those application inside the Estonian ID is also available inside the MyKad. The problem is, the department related i.e JPJ and Polis are reluctant to use, especially JPJ. And, the guy who give the presentation did mention that their card is the first in Europe which able to help police with their enforcement. You can gladly guess which country were the first in the world able to do that…
Yea..my point exactly bro! We have brilliant initiatives but whats the point if they are not being used? When times are hard, its prolly best too improve what we have and not waste on new expenditure that will be left to rot like our mykard?
Point taken. IMHO, too much politiking, less action.
