Im a regular listener of Fly FM for a while now, my radio preset has been stuck on Fly since it started back in 30th June 2005. In my view its a breath of fresh with the usual suspects from AMP of Hitz,Mix and Light & Easy stealing most of the airtime.

The shows i regularly listen too are  Fly FM’s Pagi Show with Phat Fabes, Ben and Nadia as well as the Fly FM’s Night Flight with Hunny and Hafiz. How do you gauge your interest towards stations?

For me its pretty forward, the jocks need to be lively, creative and original!! Some of the more famous radio stations believe it or not are not that creative after all, if you are exposed to radio stations out of the country, you’ll notice many segments are copy cats of things that have been done before.

Fly has delivered to that so far, during the Pagi show the highlight is the Fix It Segment where they jocks receive entries and call up listeners to solve their problems and trust me, some of them are real heavy duty problems which they have pulled off very well.

The other show i listen too pretty regularly is the Night Flight with Hafiz and Hunny which used to be flown by Prem and Jules who have now run the Rush Hour show. The higlight of the Night Flight is the Flirty at 1030. Prem and Jules used to do a awesome job when they were running it and now Hafiz and Hunny are slowly picking it up from where the previous jocks left it from.

The Rush Hour show is now hosted by Prem and Jules who were the voice of the night show takes driving back form work to a new level, their energy and constant updates on current news from home and around the world which is fused in with basic day to day mamak stall discussions is truly awesome!! What i like best about the duo is the fact that the callers get to participate in their discussions gives it a real live conversation feel

Driving home after a hard day of work and getting stuck in the normal jam’s around town is pretty sickening but the duo gives that particular drive home from work easier!

It is NTV7’s 10th year anniversary lately and the Pagi show have been featured live on NTV7 in the morning’s and its pretty hilarious watching the jocks on tv while they run their show. They seem so comfortable and make the show like a normal conversation between good friends with the nation participating in it, which is awesome!!

In conjunction with NTV7’s anniversary the Pagi show came up with a spontaneous request to the listeners to tell them what they want and the jocks will try to hook them up. So the calls/sms’s came pouring in with listeners asking for everything under the sun. From camera’s,holidays,money,laptops and the most popular one of a CAR.

Since the car was the popular choice, the jocks called up their boss Seelan Paul to see if its ok and when they did, he seemed pretty blur on what was going on but eventually gave the crew a task…If they could get 5000 listeners to SMS in Car , he would give the jocks a car to give away.

Within a day, the crew managed to get the 5000 sms’s and the boss had a obligation to provide a car to the jocks to give away. Now the next big question, how do you win this car off Fly Fm?? Listeners again had the opportunity to call in or sms to suggest the best way to give away this car and the verdict??

Listeners had to guess the weight of the car+Phat Fabes+Ben+Nadia AND a slogan telling Fly FM why they should win the car in not more than 100 words. Listeners have to sms this to 33399.

Now what car? Im not too sure yet but the weight of the car is apparently 2140 kg’s(but I’m not too sure about this one, a Proton Gen2 weight’s only 1245kg’s, unless this is a 4WD were talking about) ,then you need to guess the weight of the Pagi jocks, add them together and come up with a compelling story and you could be in the running!!!

Now this is what you call a superb element of surprise?! Which other radio station gives you something close to this?? I surely would be glued to the station to listen for more clues and hopefully get myself in the running to that car!!

For what’s it worth, i think the Fly FM team are doing a great job and i hope they keep it up for a long looonggg time
