How many times have you tried to do something and receive the most amount of sceptism from family, colleagues and friends? Yep…these are normally people who are within your camp who make you feel that your idea or thoughts are pretty worthless and you came up with the dumbest idea/decision in the world!!
Then you go out and speak to a total stranger and they think your a re-incarnation of Einstein and you be stupid not to persue it?? Well…I guess it happens all the time!
But why??
Maybe its in-built in people to protect people closest to you from something undesireable from happening.
Subconsciously or consciously?
I think its subconscious thing! In the back of their minds they try to protect, protect what? Well…the family reputation, the organizations reputation or just your reputation? Failing is a big no no in our culture.. If you fail you are bad or not so intelligent but isn’t that how someone learns?
The worst part is nobody wants to justify why they don’t think what you say is a good thing or a lousy idea! Most times, ideas are shot dead without any justification or reason.
But should that stop you from doing what you want to do?? I say NO! Unless someone has a good enough reason or a justification you should just go ahead and try it! Its ok to fail as long as its a calculated risk! If you have a thought or a idea of how it can improve you, go get em tiger!!
The enemy will always be within! Maybe because they care more but dont know how to say it in a way that shows that very emotion. But listening to them and not getting emotionally taken for a ride with their thoughts could be a good way to move right along. Listen, evaluate and take the next step.
Action speaks louder than words so, everyone and anyone can talk but unless you do something about it, it effectively doesn’t give you the right to whine about it!!
This posting is basically some random thoughts i have had for a while but i think i need to listen more and read between the lines. Hopefully its a less disappointing year and i get some of my passion and dreams achieved!
