Proton will be launching a few models of their cars which are 0% emission free! Yeap, Proton have partnered with Detroit Electric to convert the Proton Persona, Proton Savvy and Lotus Elise to a electric car!
Cost?
The persona electric car will cost about RM80k and how do you charge of off these electric baby’s? The electric car battery could be recharged to 80% capacity in eight hours using a normal house power outlet while special fast chargers could cut the time down to 30 minutes.
The lithium ion batteries are estimated to give an operating range around 300km per charge with an effective lifespan of 300,000km.
How fast can these cars go?
A sports version can have a top speed of 220kph while a mid-size sedan can reach up to 190kph. Not bad eh!
I think this is brilliant that the electric cars are slowly making its way into the market and hopefully more will follow suit in the long run.
