Distress Signals

Signs of distress is the new way to get one arrested lately. Shieh was arrested recently and it was because of the flag that was placed up side down on his blog. It was a sign to show that the nation is in distress and something needs to be done to save the nation.

In Sheih’s latest posting he displayed a image of the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics when a little boy was walking next to Yao Min. When the boy appeared with the NBA star the world was wondering who the boy was and it was later discovered that Lin Hao, a pupil from quake-hit area in southwest China’s Sichuan province, parade into the National Stadium at the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, Aug. 8, 2008. According to media reports, when the May 12 tremor struck, Lin Hao risked his life and suffered multiple injuries for rescuing his schoolmates from the collapsed buildings. He was later awarded the title of “Teenage Hero in Earthquake Rescue and Relief.

It was a perfect opening ceremony but if you look closely at the flag the boy was carrying it was a upside down !! The Earthquake victim was holding the Chinese Flag upside-down during the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic as a signal of “Nation in Distress” due to the earthquake.

In China it is such action simply shows that the nation is in distress and it is acceptable, in Malaysia…You get arrested for such behavior. If the people are not allowed the space to express their feelings and no proper support system are in place to handle such “problems” i guess arresting them is the only resolution ha! So the question I ask..

Is China more open than Malaysia ?!
