Bye Bye Fireflies

n_19dirtyriver

If you are from the Klang Valley you don’t really have much of the environment. The little that is left is slowly disappearing because of our own actions. Well, the Fireflies is a big attraction for the urban populations. Parents that want to show their children the beauty of the environment normally consider a few places and a favorite is the Fire flies at Kuala Selangor.

Apparently, it will be the end of that destination if nothing is done.

All the fireflies there will be gone for good by the end of this year if no measures are taken to protect them

The decline of the firefly colonies in the two popular tourist spots was at a very serious stage, with half of them already disappeared.

We have identified seven critical areas in the two villages where the firefly colonies in four spots are already gone

A total of 38ha of land along the river has also been cleared

Said Selangor Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment Committee chairman Elizabeth Wong.

So parents, if you have children and you want to show them whats left of our environment, this is the time because there are many who are more interested in their own interest and are simply not bothered about the bigger picture.

Question – Why arent the government doing anything about protecting our environment?
