We had this lady from Bigpond(Australian ISP) come over the other day to talk to us about Bigpond and their suites available to the Australian public and I left the room with admiration for the Australian people. The constant topic on our minds are if only there were a ISP that could come out and give the masses both a nice speed and a good price!

Bigpond are like our dearest TM ,both at one point were govt owned telco companies and were running off their respective govts. Both went through privatisation and now both are competing against other companies. The other similarities is at one point being govt bodies they had the funds and that gained them a monopoly … The similarities stop there!

Bigpond has taken the company from one level to the best service provider to the consumer. The consumer enjoys lightning speeds of up to 30Mbps! That’s crazy isn’t it? The best part about this whole deal is the was Bigpond has used their monopoly while being a govt arm to their advantage and all this is only a benefiting the consumer! Their package is a $29.95 for a 8Mbps connection. That’s 8Mbps!!Now that’s what you call speed!!

Poor old Malaysians show off their proud 1Mbps connection which we pay an average of about$77-$1ooish (depending what sort of package you have) With that kind of money ill be on a 30Mbps connection in Australia! Now how about that??!

We are easily about 10 years ahead and the gap is widening! I hope that some company comes up and takes over TM or they hire some awesome CEO to take over the helm and bring them to a new level. Think about the resources they have (TM fixed lines,TM Net and Celcom) whit those companies under your umbrella a blind man can see the potential in blowing the market away!

I’m hoping more companies would step up and create a competition amongst the ISP’s. It can only benefit the consumer and I cant wait to see the day when options are surplus and prices are decent! :)

It is very hard in Malaysia because most of the landlines is owned by TM. Unless TM willing to partner with other competitor leasing their DSLAM.
