This weekend was a filled with racism in central KL. Wait, was it racism or pure ignorance?

Lets look at the situation.

The Bar Council in KL hosted a forum entitled ‘Conversion to Islam’ on the 9th of August. It was a forum that was supposed to discuss the various problems that were faced in Malaysia by professionals. Instead it turned ugly when a group of protesters were not too happy about such forum being held and ultimately it became ugly.

The police adviced that the forum be closed by 10am as the protest was getting intenced and it was a matter of security. At 9.50am the protesters muscled their way into the hall lead by Zulkifli Noordin who was wore his Lawyers in Defence of Islam hat and not his PKR hat on that day.

Ok…one issue out of the way, it was not political it was purely racial

Then there were a heavy exchange of words and some of the words heard being yelled in the halls were..

- Monkey

- Jangan cabar Islam

- Hancur Bar Council

- Hidup Islam

- Batal forum

- babi

- pengkhianat

- balik China

I for one am very disappointed that all this has happened, i can understand that when its religion or race..emotions gets into the way of straight thinking but we are a multi etnic country for 50 years!! Not 1-2weeks. If this was new to us, you can excuse one for that kind of behaviour but i think this is not acceptable.There are definitely better ways to resolve misunderstandings than calling people names and further triggering any racial distress.

The Bar council are represented by a highly professional individuals that are practical people. If one was not happy about something and had something to say, it should have been discussed proper and if the Bar does not acknowledge that its sensitive, then let the authorities take the relevant actions!!

I’m wondering, if Bar were given till 10am to call off the forum…They why did they storm in before that? Everyone can assume everything, you can assume that DSAI was not going to te police station by 2pm thus arrest him. You can assume bar council will not stop at 10am,thus gate crash the forum?! Assumption is a bitch in my view .A friend told me the word assumption is derived from -> making a ASS out of you and me.

Don’t understand what they hurry was, imagine if they waited till 10am and then done the gate crashing…Wouldn’t that have given them more credibility??

You can protest, nothing wrong in that..But storming into a meeting…Not very developed nation kind isn’t it?? To be a developed nation you need to think and act like a developed nation as well!!
