AirAsia Gets Singapore Route
- With 0 comments

Now everyone can fly cheap to Singapore. AirAsia got the nod from the Government yesterday to operate two flights daily to the republic. For me its long overdue! Now this could pave the way for much more possibilities.Being a fan of the AirAsia model and the story so far this is truly another feather in the already crowded hat.
Malaysia airlines looks to be the biggest loser with this new entry.Tiger Airways is partially owned by SIA(40% shares) So its not a huge lost as to compared to Malaysian Airlines(0%shares in AirAsia).
The bigger AirAsia grows the better it is for me as i personally feels Malaysian Airlines is long over due a true competition and hopefully this could trigger a race between the 2 carriers which could only benefit the consumer.
AirAsia and Tiger Airways are expected to charge about 30% of the non-shuttle fare but will have the usual cheap offers for limited seats. The two low-cost carriers will operate the route between the LCCT at KLIA and the Budget Terminal at Changi Airport.
It was learnt that AirAsia and Tiger Airways would only be allowed to operate the two flights each on off-peak hours. Currently the shuttle service which is jointly operated by the two airlines, the price of a one-way ticket is RM167 while an economy non-shuttle one is RM266. Airport tax and surcharges cost RM140 ,that’s approximately about RM400.At 30% of that were looking at about RM120? A executive bus ride from Kl-Sg which takes about 6-8hours cost about Rm80-120. Getting there in 40mins at RM120 is a no brainer for me!!
Can’t wait for this to kick off cause I’m pretty sure more of such bargains will mushroom in due time. Now every one can TRULY fly! ![]()
