Earth Hour 2012

Earth Hour is a yearly event that is held on the last Saturday of March when people turn off their lights for one hour in support of mother nature. What started in Sydney, Australia in 2007 has spread all around the world with more than 5,200 cities and towns in 135 countries worldwide switched off their lights for Earth Hour 2011 alone.
This is a fantastic stat! It shows that more and more people are getting more aware of the cause and i personally belief that this is an awareness campaign, a campaign to get more and more people aware of the need to do our parts as individuals so that collectively we can make a change.
This is the 5th year for Earth Hour, in Malaysia its 4th year. It started in Malaysia in 2009 and its picked up so much and its brilliant to see many supporting the cause. What is not very nice is that people still hitting out that its a big drama and how its a waste of energy etc … Well, while everyone is entitled to their opinion it makes you wonder if the “noise makers” are living a true sustainable lifestyle or simply don’t have enough friends and need the attention.
I congratulate WWF globally and WWF-Malaysia locally for their hard work in making Earth Hour as big as it is. It’s no easy feat, i know that for sure. Earth Hour is not the solution but it is a powerful tool that makes us all aware that we need to do something and the organization that started the campaign are well aware of this and keep reiterating that it’s the start so that we can “live green”
Happy Earth Hour 2012 everyone, i hope everyone educates just one other person and we take part and support this movement. After all it is one that is extremely important and can help our planet!

Social Media & Privacy
Do you think that your privacy is the top of the agenda for the likes of Facebook and other social networks? More and more people throw a fuss about their privacy but they still end up using the service. The fact is that it’s a free service and every and anyone that is on it has an option of using or not.
Advantages outweighs the disadvantages so i think users need to be mindful of privacy issues and take care of your own well-being!

Sepang F1 – 2 Late

Ferrari are back to winning ways with Alonso went in front after the red flag and held on to his position right till the chequered flag. It was a pretty dull race for me with the rain becoming a spoiler, the second time in the last few years. The last time the rain hit the race was in 2010 when the race was totally washed off.
This time around the race had to stop after about 8 laps for about nearly an hour before going on right till the end completing the entire race.
Hope that the organizers move the race back to the original 2pm time slot which will give the race more hope of survival if the rain decides to hit. I understand that the slot was moved to accommodate the European audience but then again, i think that if the European’s want to watch the race, they will get up a couple of hours earlier like the rest of the world does to when they need to watch a sporting event at a different time zone.
