Another Indian boy has died under the police custody. How he died?

He had asked for a glass of water and threw up after drinking, then collapsed. The policemen present immediately summoned a doctor from a nearby clinic to examine Kugan, who was pronounced dead minutes later.

Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo crashed into a barrier, totaling his red 612-horsepower Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. He luckily escaped the accident with no serious injuries.

The 23-year-old winger was reportedly driving through a tunnel beneath the runways of Manchester Airport around 10:20 a.m. when he hit the barrier. Greater Manchester Police also said teammate and goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar was following Ronaldo in his Bentley, although he was not involved in the crash. Ronaldo gave a negative breath test, then got a lift from van der Sar and continued to a training session. (more…)

Presidential Ride – The Beast

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

obamalimo_1242075cWhile watching the Presidential innauguration the Presidents new ride looked awesome! It is nicknamed “The Beast” ! It sure looks like a beast!

Barack Obama will ride in an all-new Cadillac Presidential Limousine after his inauguration as the 44th President of the United States today.

He will use the vehicle, nicknamed the Beast, on the 1.7-mile journey from the Capitol along the parade route to the White House. It reportedly has armour eight inches thick, tear-gas cannons and Kevlar-reinforced tyres that resist attack. For security reasons, most of the details remain confidential.

Since the 1930s, the job of providing transport for the President and members of his administration has alternated irregularly between Cadillac, one of troubled General Motors’ marques, and Ford’s luxury brand, Lincoln. Ford has not supplied the White House with limousines since 1989.

Wonder if Proton and Perodua will compete to come design the new PM’s car or will they just give the PM a regular Proton Perdana Limo? :)

Barack Obama Is The 44th American President

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

18_obama_lgBarack Obama has been installed as the 44th President of the United States of America. I watched the installation over Astro and even thought there was a small mess up in his oath, it was very good to see this long anticipated day. The Bush era is now over and its a brand new day!

Its interesting how the whole world has taken soo much attention on Obama’s election as the President of America. Because we look up to America? I don’t think so, i personally think the world is hungry for change, hungry for a new revolution and Obama brings hope!

The work starts now, i pray for more of this similar hope to come along.

God Bless Us ALL!

DivX 7 Launched!

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

divx-7

I used to use this player some time ago but stopped using it and only use the vlc player. But the team at divX have launched a new version which looks pretty neat!

DivX has launched version 7 of its popular video and audio compression software with support for high definition (HD) content.

This means you can now take H.264 video content and compress it into more manageable sizes for playback on a PC or for transferring to a DVD for playback on a HDTV. The software is available in two versions; the free DivX for Windows download which supports DivX video playback and DivX Pro for Windows which allows for DivX video creation. The software supports H.264 files that use the popular .mkv file extension.

EPF Cut Stats

Monday, January 19th, 2009

failed_status_epf_2007There was a interesting read on the star about a week ago saying that 78% of Malaysians preferred have opted to the new EPF cut to 8%.

ONLY 22% or 1.23 million out of the 5.64 million Employees’ Provident Fund members chose to maintain their contribution rate at 11%, Berita Harian reported.

The daily quoted its public relations senior manager Nik Affendi Jaafar as saying that the rest of the 4.41 million contributors opted to reduce their contribution to 8%.

“Most of those who chose to maintain their contribution were those living in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Johor, with Selangor having the highest number,” he said.

The Government had announced the cut as a measure to boost consumer spending in light of the current global economic crisis although many groups had protested that this would affect the members’ savings.

It was rather interesting that only a fraction opted to keep their contribution at 11% considering numerous articles saying that the cut would mean that you end up paying more tax, if you fall under certain tax brackets.

Have you forgotten to fill up that form to keep your contribution at 11% or are Malaysians more content to have more coming out of our monthly paycheck. Short term measure which you could loose out in the long run, don’t you think so?

Looks like Malaysians are genuinely worried about the situation this year and want to have more in their pockets right now!! or were getting forgetful!

Did you forget or preferred 3% more in your bank account each month?

The Power of Facebook

facebook

Social networks are hitting it big time. I remember first getting into it via e-circles which was a network of friends. Then we evolved to Friendster and then there were the MySpace,Hi5 and the list went on and on. But when Facebook hit the market, it blew the competition off..pretty much totally.

Excerpts from the Facebook blog :

150 million people around the world are now actively using Facebook and almost half of them are using Facebook every day. This includes people in every continent—even Antarctica. If Facebook were a country, it would be the eighth most populated in the world, just ahead of Japan, Russia and Nigeria

Crazy isnt it! Do you Facebook?
