randy-jackson-raised-on-radio-tour-1986

American Idol is in season its 8th installment and judges Simon,Paula and Randy have been on the judging panel since its first started. To be honest i have not heard of Randy before Idol but this should be a good intro about who he actually is.

Randy was a member of the group from 1986-1987 and traveled the country promoting their Raised On Radio album with a coast-to-coast tour.   Group members at that time included Steve Perry, Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Mike Baird and Jackson.

I found the image above pretty amusing :) The dawgg!

On a separate note, He has some killer resemblance to my friend Danny ha! What you think? :)

Home Minister – Don’t Regard Criminals As Heroes

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

syed_hamid_albar

A Kugan who was killed at police custody was finally put to rest this week. This was after the 2 post morterms, some serious whacking behind bars, politicians intervention and what did the Home Minister have to say?

Don’t Regard Criminals As Heroes

I was pretty shocked to see this coming out of the Home Minister!I mean seriously… If i were the Home Minister, i would be a bit more careful with what i say during such fragile times. Emotions have been shaken up, our children are being killed under the custody of the people who are supposed to protect us!! As far as im concern, Kugan did not commit a crime and since he got killed before anyone who could change the suspect status to guilty, HE IS INNOCENT!

For me its not a race issue, its simply a national security issue and to me it looks like the police is a threat! I have heard soo many stories that this is normal and there are soo many that get killed under custody. Of course this maybe true or not but you cant help but wonder if its true isn’t it?

If you have not seen the original report of the Home Minister’s statement, you can read it HERE. What i think about this report?

Dear Home Minister,

Who ever is writing your statements should be fired because he is a moron. Its the stupidest thing to say considering the current climate and your definitely talking about Kugan and there is absolutely nothing general about your statement. Fire that moron who is writing your speeches and please read your speeches before saying anything to the press!!

My 2 cents

Google Video Shutting Down

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

untitled

Google has decided to shut down its video uploading service. Since they already own YouTube, the google video is surplus to requirement. Considering the current economic climate, its a just move to shut down the products that are not exactly doing well or are surpluss.

For those of you attached to the service, don’t panic, as Google will be leaving what’s up there alone but in a few months it will no longer accept any new video uploads.

Im sure we see a few more of such announcements with the giants refining the lineup of offerings to make it more cost effective for the companies!

The Law of the Garbage Truck

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

This is a pretty cool emai that i received. How true ha!

One day, I hopped into a taxi and took off for the airport . We were driving in the right lane when suddenly, a black car, jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed the brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. I mean, was really friendly. So I asked, “Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!” This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, ‘The Law of the Garbage Truck’

He explained, “Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you. NEVER take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on with the routine life.” Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so…… ‘Love the people who treat you right.. Pray for the ones who don’t.’

A very rightly said quote: Life is 10% what you make and 90% how you take!!!!

Slumdog Millionaire

slumdogmillionaire

Slumdog Millionaire, a “feel good” movie that won four awards at the Golden Globe has raised eyebrows amongst the world. I managed to catch the movie and personally i felt it was a good movie, not the best i have seen compared too the Transformers or a Dark Knight.

It has yet to hit our shores or this region but after its Golden Globe exploits i sure hope it makes it here. I liked the main role played by Dev Patel’s performance, It was fresh and natural and im sure he has a bright future ahead of him as far as his acting career is concerned.

Will you watch it at the theaters if it makes it too our shores?

Earth Hour Malaysia

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

earthhourlogo-m

Earth Hour in Malaysia is slowly gaining momentum. There is a new buzz that is hitting our shores that promises to bring Malaysians and fellow friends from around the world together by turning out their lights for one hour on the 28th of March 2009 between 8.30pm-9.30pm.

Last year, there was about 35 countries around the world which brought together 50 million people to turn off their lights to show support for climate change. Now is this just some sort of gimmick?

Personally i know that’s its not a gimmick! This year, the target is 1 billion people around the world to turn out their lights. If you don’t know yet, the governments of the world will be meeting on the 7th-11th December at Copenhagen for the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

There is a strong vibe around the world that the global voice or the masses rather can bring change. From Malaysian political scene to Obama-mania in America, its clear that if we all do what we are supposed to do, collectively it will have its impact. If we can lobby 1/6th of the world’s population  to call for strong guidelines, we can make a difference.

Its time for all of us in Malaysia and everyone around the world to take the first step to start our quest to preserve our planet. Earth Hour is the start for the world to come together irrespective of your race, nationality and colour. You can click the Earth Hour banner on the sidebar to take you to the Earth Hour Malaysian page to get the latest!

I will be blogging from time to time about progress in Malaysia and some landmark announcements!

Manchester United to Play Malaysia

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

man-unitedLast season Malaysian football fans were left dissapointed after the match between Manchester United and the Malaysian national team got canceled after some small drama with AFC. That was nothing but a small hiccup as the Red Devils will come to Malaysia in the summer to take on the Malaysian national team as part of the Asian Tour!

“Our tour to Asia is always special. The atmosphere generated by the supporters is amazing. Asia is also a vital part of our commercial growth and close to half of the club’s over 300 million fans are in Asia and the figure continues to grow,” said Gill, announcing details of the Asian Tour

Hopefully United will come to Malaysia as the runner of the premier league come May this year :p

Boycott US?

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

There have been many calls for Malaysians to boycott US products and stop using them.Since that call came along there have been many jokes about why i was at work as i cant use my Dell made PC to work anymore. I cant even use a Mimos pc because there OS is American can and etc…

Well, im not ecomonist but this is a sneak peak of what can happen if we start taking drastic measures like boycotting a product just because it is from America.

untitled1The world’s largest chipmaker is closing two assembly test facilities in Penang, Malaysia and one in Cavite, Philippines and will halt production at a plant in Hillsboro, Oregon. It will also end wafer production at a facility in Santa Clara, California. All five are older factories, the company said.

I heard thats about 5,000 jobs that are lost.So my take, if you want to boycott…There are many countries that need the investments which the American companies can decide to move. Imagine if all American companies decide to boycott Malaysia?

Sad situation it would leave us in isn’t it?

Im not sure about the majority, but i don’t care where a product is from. Im more interested in the quality and value for money. That be like looking at my race or religion before hiring me for a job and not if i can do the job OR giving me a discount before i can even show interest in buying a house!

A friend of a friend said this to me yesterday… We just keep throwing  shit to the fan! (I agree :) )

Wait a min..sounds familiar huh? :)
