On the 23rd of October i did a posting on how the world crude oil price had dropped drasically to USD$67 and i was dissapointed how the price of fuel was too high. Since then we have had the price dropped 7 times and the last a few days ago to RM1.80 a liter of fuel.
Today while i was looking at the crude oil price it dropped further to USD$38 which is almost half of what the price was not even 2 months ago! Its crazy!! Well..am i happy with the price of fuel that I’m paying now..My answer YES! should retail fuel price drop further? I say NO
Why i feel that it should not drop further is simple for me at least(STRICTLY MY THOUGHTS).
1) I think if the price drops too low, the jams on the road is going to go crazy! Thats not going to do any favours to the environment and frankly i think with a already shit like economy, more jams is not going to do any favours to productivity.
2) I think this is a good opportunity for the government to save from the profits that are being made and to channel it into areas where the country badly needs improvement. (ie- public transport, health, education)
BUT having said that i hope that the government spends the money with more caution and transparency as it must come back to benefit the nation. When we say better public transportation does not mean new buses but better routes, better frequency, better access.
When we say education, to train the those who’s jobs are in jeopardy with the economic meltdown to be skilled for new opportunities
When we say health it is to ensure that those who cant afford it have got a place to go when their sick and get the treatment they deserve.
There is always positives out of negatives and in bad times we have and must innovate and come up with better ways to make life go on. The mood is not at its best and i hope the government will play its part to give people hope and help those in need! What else do we need a governtment for other than to take care of the well being of ALL Malaysians?
