The World Is HA HA -ing Us!

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Thanks to the competent and responsible leaders the world is laughing their guts out at us. Malaysia is like every sales-man dream come true where we don’t negotiate to buy goods at good prices and that are cost effective on the long run but buy based sources that can inflate a few bank accounts and has got potential to further inflate the bank accounts in the short-long run.

The Eurocopter EC725 Cougar proposed purchase is yet another lousy piece of business which would have gone ahead to meet the above criteria if not for the constant noise by the opposition law makers at the parliament.

Do you know that the Malaysian Airforce use Sukhoi, MiG and Boeing fighters, BAE and Aermacchi trainers, Eurocopter, Sikorsky, and AgustaWestland helicopters??

Im no military expert but Let me ask you a simple question :

Would you buy 10 different brands of tv from 10 different vendors for your karaoke join or would you buy 10 tv’s from 1 or 2 vendors?

I don’t know about you but common sense would tell me that buying from 1 or 2 suppliers would make it hell easier to the cost, maintainance, service and future purchases.. Right?

So what are our actual motivations in such major purchases? My guess is as good as yours buy there is a good read on what the world thinks of us with an article from FlightGlobal with a tittle we have become familiar with Malaysian Flip-Flops

Low Pas-ing Marks

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

When March 8th happened i was delighted and thought that this is going to be a new dawn for Malaysian and Malaysian politics. I had a lingering doubt..How would PAS fit into this equation with its ideology which favors the Muslims more than the others. How would PAS react towards a more race balanced PKR & DAP’s actions in the future.

After the election when the ball got rolling, PAS surprised many with its more open approach and allowing more space for discussions of the other races and being a good component member of the Pakatan Rakyat. But i guess you cant always expect them to give in to decisions that are not in tune with the tune they are soo used to singing.

Amongst the states that Pakatan have won over in the last election, Penang and Selangor are the big boys that i consider the more important ones that has a high impact to the urban folks(the area which most of us reading the online media fall in).

Lim Guan Eng and Tan Sri Khalid have got the reputation of doing what ever it takes to ensure the states are run responsibility and the right things are done to ensure the states spend wisely and ultimately benefit the states. Now lets turn out attention to Selangor, Tan Sri Khalid who is known as the “corporate man” from his previous background of being a corporate ace was tipped to turn around Selangor by cleaning up the mess and putting the right people in place to manage it to yield the results he wants.

In his latest move, Tan Sri Khalid appointed Low Siew Moi as acting head of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS). The PKNS corporate and accounts deputy general manager, would be appointed acting general manager for a year following the retirement of Datuk Harun Salim at the end of October.

Datuk Dr Hasan Mohamad Ali

Now this is where the drama begins… Selangor Pas commissioner Datuk Dr Hasan Mohamad Ali, who is also a state executive councillor will help find a more suitable candidate. WHY DID KHALID APPOINT LOW?

Low was appointed because of her professionalism and administrative ability.

Correct me I’, wrong but isn’t that how someone gets the top job in the first place?? (more…)

Windows 7 Beta Revealed

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Windows 7 was officially unveiled to developers at its Professional Developers Conference 2008. The new Microsoft OS which is due to be launched on 2010 is already on beta and hopefully it will be a version that will please many. When ever Microsoft comes up with a new OS there is too much scepticism but i personally am looking forward to the new version which i hear will be lighter and give users the “work how you want to” experience.

Im no expert IT guy but the very interested to learn and use IT solutions that is easy on the system and the pocket while providing the maximum value to the customer. But my wish list are :

  • Simplified versions and not too many choices like its predecessors (more…)

WordPress App for LinkedIn

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

The people at wordpress have launched the aps for LinkedIn. In the words of Wp,

The WordPress App for LinkedIn helps you share ideas and updates with your LinkedIn network, keeping your trusted contacts in the loop, effortlessly.

This is a good development to inform your LinkedIn contacts of developments on your blog. Its important that the postings are relevant to what your professional networks see’s as you don’t want to them to see details of your naughty weekend or some online whining :)

Having said that you can filter what goes on LinkedIn with a LinkedIn tag and it be great if you use gravatar to put a face to your post.

Congrats & Thank You to the WP team for another great aps!
