Anwar to be Charged

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

In the latest report by the Malaysian Insider, the police will be charging Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim for sodomy. The investigation was done based on Anwar’s DNA from 1998 when he was first charged for sodomy.

This report is out despite the reason events of the medical reports that indicated that Saiful was not sodomized in the first place. It getting a little worrying for the lay men to watch such drama happening but we sure hope this get cleared up asap and allow the nation to be back in business again.

I hope all this will get cleared up and allow the nation to get back to business again.

Uncle Pet Challenges Pete

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

In the latest report by Malaysiakini, Uncle Pet who has been the only one who has been consistently appearing to the press is angry!!

Exceprts :

One more thing, for Raja Petra (Kamaruddin) if he hears this. I want to see him,” said Pet.

“Have you read what Petra wrote about me in his blog?” he questioned. “He has attacked me personally, saying that I sodomised my nephew.

Pilih apa gelangang yang you mahu (Choose wherever you want). He called me an auntie and so on and so forth. Come and see me if he wants to know me better. Because I want to see him too,” said Pet.

Getting very hot eh! Instead of Uncle Pet, i think i like to hear what Saiful or the family has got to say. Don’t they have a lawyer to respond to these statements? Uncle Pet is obviously not the best person to respond to anything if he cant keep his emotions in place isn’t it?

I’m also wondering whats taking the police so long to sort this case out? The more it delays the more you are going to hear about these kind of allegations. Yes, we feel sorry for Saiful’s family for the ordeal they have to go through but we also have to feel sorry for Dato Seri Anwar’s family for what they have to put up too isn’t it?

Uncle Pet got furious after reading a story on RPK’s site entitled The Malay Unity Sodomy Conspiracy

Justice has got to be served and it needs to be sooner rather than latter!

PS – Wonder what RPK has got to say to this!

Racial Harmony

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

racial harmony

I went through the BTN behaviour modification and racist indoctrines many-many moons ago and I found myself troubled by all the racist propaganda. Late nite discussions with my roomie at the time (the late Benan RIP), and we concluded that the BTN wanted to brainwash us into believing that:

EVERYBODY (at one time, in one way or another) is a racist.

This means that you, the reader, are a racist, your father, your mother, your siblings, your cousin to the son of a brother who is an uncle of a nephew who is also a son-in-law to the cousin who is twice removed to a politician is also a racist.

Mahathir is a racist. Bodowi is a racist. KJ is a racist. Hishamuddin is a racist. Karpal is a racist. Same goes for Kit Siang, racist. And let’s not forget Anwar. He is also a racist. Wow.

Really?

If every single human being in Malaysia is a racist, have we any hope to co-exist? Is it impossible to have racial harmony and with that, social justice? Can we still achieve racial harmony; build trust and commitment in a pluralistic society? How do we fight racism while having a long history of racial injustice?

It is interesting to read the definitions of racism found by searching ‘define:racism’ with google.

Believing that one race is superior to another. Used historically to justify imperialism and human rights abuses.

In another light, racism marginalizes groups of people, depriving them of the privileges that others routinely enjoy. Exclusion. Alienation.

As I grew into adulthood, my world-view expanded and had many opportunities to work with so many people, numerous penjajah from the portuguese, dutch, japanese to the brit, and even played footie and worked with the Jews. It’s not haram to work with a jew-lah. Tak mati pun.

I believe in Malaysia for Malaysians. We share the same air, drink the same water and our blood is red from shedding blood for this country..

According to Rawls, to have racial harmony or peace in a nation state that is pluralistic in terms of race, religion and ethnicity, the basic institutions must be arranged in a manner that all members of that society have good reasons for thinking these institutions are just and that they are legitimate members of the society.

Let’s look at the Pakatan Rakyat. The PR is a notion of coalitions taking the form of consensus-building. The goal is to build actual consensus in real political context and the concept of PR works on the belief that there is a level of cooperation between racial groups to shape negotiated norms that will allow us to tolerate each other as we pursue common ends. A common allegiance to ‘Ketuanan Rakyat’ provided a unified perspective from which people of different color can adjudicate their differences.

Someone wrote:

“The fact that the PKR had performed better than previous elections is because it had fielded its candidates from a broad spectrum of race, religion and creed. Unlike its associate, PAS which campaigns solely on religious platform, both PKR and DAP are able to attract a broad spectrum of urban voters. The strong performance by non-Malay candidates in Malay majority constituencies clearly shows that racial cards and the politics of intimidation are NO longer the name of the game for Malaysia in the 21st century. In majority Chinese communities, both Gerakan and MCA were performing badly. The Hindraf movement had to some extent swung the votes from traditional MIC to the Opposition parties. Both MIC and its rival, the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) which played on racial cards lost badly.”

True. Ketuanan Rakyat. Good. Ketuanan Melayu. Racist. Ketuanan Islam. Racist. Or is it? Racism can take many forms and be defined in different ways. When we add the ‘Tuan’ to indicate superiority that may result in the social, political and economic advantage of one group in relationship to another, then hell yeah, let me put this bold. RACIST. Who are certain factions within PAS trying to fool?

Like many young ‘arranged’ marriages, time is needed for the relationship to mature and in the process love quarrels may occur. Consensus assumes that people are willing to agree with each other and that any conflict can lead to creative, intelligent and mutually beneficial decisions. Despite these conflicts, I would like to think racial coalitions can be used to create a racially harmonious and just society, but we must realize that is a society where there has been and continue to be wide-spread racism, any small disagreement between members of different racial groups can serve to undermine any common ground that has been established . The threesome coalitions of PKR, PAS and DAP at a glance may be difficult to maintain and it seems like they will require constant maintenance for their continued existence. Goodwill is not enough and weeks ago, I imagined them breaking down because of a possibility that members of the coalition do not see in their best interest to continue. Or it may also occur because of some misunderstanding between members of the coalition. I could be proven wrong today.

(The Star) – Perak Umno has offered the state PAS to team up with it but Perak Mentri Besar snubbed the offer saying, “PAS in Perak will be in Pakatan Rakyat forever and ever.

Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin … well done sir!!

The PR has good leadership. When we talk about the interests of members of the Pakatan, we should note that they may have long-term and short term interests. Whatever it may be, you and I would agree that very often it is extremely hard for people to look at their long-term interest, especially when they seem to conflict with their short term interests. My run towards financial independence by my 40s was derailed somewhat by recent events. Courageous leaders play an important role in getting people to focus on short term as well as long-term interests. We still need the redistribution of wealth to the rakyat this will require large scale government intervention to assure access to basic goods. I suspect that when this is done, people from different races (racist that they may be) will come to see that they have a great deal in common.

PAS members need to see that it is not in their interest to adopt such a narrow short-term interpretation and look closely at this UMNO muzakarah, muqabalah thingy (why can’t they come with an easier word to understand). What are the aims of the participants in this new proposed coalition? Is it to achieve a common good? Maybe. But will it be to ensure racial harmony? I think not. Each party is not attempting to achieve the common good of the rakyat, to promote racial harmony. They only want to maximise personal interests and survival of certain individuals. A by-product of their efforts may be the promotion of common interest, that is the so-called ‘Ketuanan Islam’, but seriously, this is not the true objective. In this regard, this merger talk is quite similar to the social contractarian approach in political philosophy. In the social contractarian approach, members of the state of nature are rational egoists who are attempting to agree on principles that will maximise their own interests. UMNO is a sinking ship and they only want PAS to help them stay afloat.

‘Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering’ – You know who.

It is hate that makes the housewife throw down the daily newspaper in fear, repulsion and anger, after reading yet another child-molester or rapist. It is hate that makes the Malaysian man curses to read yet another police brutality, corruption and court scandal. It is hate that brings rage into the heart of the Malaysian farmer when he reads billions loaded and given away as ‘incentives’ to aid cronies when he cannot get the smallest break from an unmerciful government to save his farm.

Emotions do things, and they align individuals (including racists) into communities. Aristotle differentiated anger from hatred in that ‘anger’ is customarily felt towards individuals only, whereas hatred may be felt towards whole classes of people’. More generally, hate also names an intense emotion, a feeling of ‘againstness’ that, according to Sartre, is always, in the phenomenological sense, intentional. We are as responsible for what it is we do as well as what it is we don’t do. Hate is a choice and the rakyat, refused the racism game and have channeled that other kind of hate to a common goal which is ‘Ketuanan Rakyat’ and true enough, the ruling coalition was made to suffer. Padan muka.

Do it at your peril PAS. Sleep with the devil and the rakyat will make you pay.

Street Voice : Open Letter

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Another open letter that i received via email which echo’s the voice from the streets :

Malaysia from before and now,  When we started work around 1973 a 1.3 Litre Japaness car was RM 7000.Today the equivalent let’s say it is RM 60000…………8.5 times

In 1973 a double storey house was about RM 45,000…or less.Today it is about RM 300,000…………6.6 times

In 1973 an Engineer’s pay was RM 1000.Today it is about RM 2000 +/-…………2 times….

From 1973 to 2008……..35 years……what is the Trend.? Bearish !!!!

In a stock market when the trend is bearish , what do we do?..Exit !!!

When a country’s trend is bearish what do we do?…..?This Bearish trend is more difficult to turn around as compared to the stock market.

I have used these 3 items House, Car & Salary as a measurement of the country’s  performance for the past 35 years….

There is a book I saw in MPH bookshop titled Malaysia: The Failed Nation. Some of you may be interested to read up.

I agreed with the writer…..

This morning I was having Coffee at McDonalds ( now the coffee..100 % Arabica beans..is quite good@ RM 2.90….free refill !!.I asked how much per hour is their pay?

RM 3.00 ! x 8 hours = RM 24 per day… x 25 days = RM 600 per month

My daughter works part-time during her University days…she worked at Gloria Jeans Coffee. The pay Australian $ 14.00 ( @ 3.15 = RM 44 per hour…..x 8 = RM 352 per day !!! x 25 days = RM 8800…….. 13.3 times more !!!!! …

Price of houses in Perth is about the same in KL.Price of cars are about 23 % cheaper…in Perth.( Australia)

I think more and more people are becoming aware of this Bearish trend.

Developed country by 2020?…means High income country

Let’s look at some as of year 2005 ( Financial Times )

USA GNP per capita US$ 35400
UK   GNP per capita US$ 25510
Australia GNP per capita US$ 19530
Singapore GNP per capita US $ 20690

These are developed countries by income measurement

Malaysia   GNP per capita US$ 3540

Year 2020..developed country?

Really…a sad story.Worrying Trends, isn’t it??????

Ringgit sliding further and further under BN

Santiago Ambushed

Santiago's Damaged Car

Santiago's Damaged Car

The MP of Klang ,Charles Santiago was ambushed by a bunch of 20 thugs who surrounded his Proton Perdana and threatened and shoke his car outside a temple in Klang. The irony of things was Santiago had earlier attended the temple’s 25th anniversary celebration and later held a dialogue session with residents on crime prevention efforts in the area and this episode happened.

“I believe the attack is politically motivated because some of the thugs repeatedly shouted words in Tamil saying ‘You all have taken out Datuk (Seri S.) Samy Vellu’,” said Santiago.

At least we know who are dissapointed that Datuk Seri Samy Vellu is out of the equation.

Red Robbie

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Liverpool have completed the signing of Spur’s Robbie Keane for 20Mil Pounds. He will be replacing Peter Crouch who moved to Pompey a few weeks ago. Personally i think this is a great signing, he has been a good player for Spurs and pretty explosive. The prospects of having Keane line up together with Torres is pretty juicy. I think that no Voronin, Arbeloa and Alonso may be sold to raise funds for the purchase of Gareth Barry.

Keane is the fifth summer addition to Rafa Benitez’s first-team squad after the arrival of David Ngog, Diego Cavalieri, Philipp Degen and Andrea Dossena.

Personally i selling Voronin is ok but i think Alonso and Pennant are pretty awesome players which i rather see wearing a red shirt than anything else. The new season is about 3 weeks time and i cant wait!!

Spiderman

Spiderman

Famously known as Spiderman, R Arumugan is easily a household name when it comes to Malaysian football. He was born on January 31, 1953 in Port Klang he was one of those players who were born to play the game. He made his debut into football at the age of 18 representing Selangor.

Representing Selangor from 1972 to 1988, he helped the time to go on and win the Malaysia Cup eight times.

Representing Malaysia 196 times

Representing Malaysia 196 times

The goalkeeper earned his first cap when he represented the Malaysia national football team in 1973 for the World Cup qualifying round matches in Seoul, South Korea. He is also a bronze medalist for the Asian games in Tehran in 1974. Arumugam was also part of the Malaysian team that qualified for the 1980 Moscow Olympics however the team boycotted that golden opportunity.

He was known to be part of the spine of the team together with Mokthar Dahari and Soh Chin Aun, He agility was second to none and his commanding presence at the goal was a constant fear to team mates and opponents. From his performances it clearly showed like his team mates the pride in wearing the national colours and playing every match like it were a cup finals.

"Spidy"

"Spidy"

Arumugam passed away on the 18th of December  1988 in a car accident on the federal highway at the age of 35. This news shocked the entire football fraternity and fans. Till today most goalkeepers in this region set Spiderman as a benchmark that they would like to emulate.

It was that era when players were chosen on merit of their performances. All of them who wore the national colours went out to make the nation proud. If only the current crop had 50% of that!!
