HELP!

The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on ‘donating a mammogram’ for free (pink window in the middle). This doesn’t cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.

Here’s the web site!

Blogging….My take

Its been a few months since i started blogging and i must say its been awesome soo far! This is a review of what my thoughts are soo far which I’m sure will change as time goes by considering how much I’m learning out of this new adventure.

Before

About a year ago i was asking myself what the heck is wrong with these fella’s telling the whole world what they do on a day to day basis, blogging in my head was like a online journal.Who would be interested in what you did, what you ate and what you did everyday! In my eyes that wasn’t my thing!

I remember when i logged onto the net, i found my self going to the same set of sites, reading the same things occasionally complaining about how these sites were not regularly updated(happens when you only go to that many sites), that kept my scope limited to sports sites ,a forum or two,the news and some occasional forwarded links….BORING! I also found when i had something to say, i didn’t have the right channel to express it..

NOW

When you start blogging you naturally start reading other blogs to see how its done. At first it was about how the sites look ,theme’s,pluggin’s and the whole look and feel. Then slowly my focus has switched to content. Now i feel its not soo much your look at and feel but content! If you write interesting topics, you will get the traffic(if your actually interested in traffic).

I’m actually not soo much into the whole traffic thing YET. Its more about speaking my mind ,getting the lingering thoughts in my head out there and exploring this whole gig. Being a Malaysian, we hear about how much heat there is currently on bloggers. Some getting busted for certain remarks on their blogs and in my opinion thats rubbish! We are a matured nation and people should be given their opportunity to speak their mind!

I was just thinking about what happens if you bust a blogger for something he said would impact anyone..

The Delirium math to the whole drama->

Malaysian Population - 27,122,000

Lets say 10% have Internet access - 2,712,200

Lets say 10% are bloggers/readers - 271,220

10% are active bloggers/readers - 27,122

So if there is a strong message out there, its only a small fraction that have got access to it!! Imagine if its hyped up by the the people who are busting these “Internet offenders” make it a big deal..Its free marketing for the bloggers who have something to say! Suddenly that figure is much much larger, automatically triggering more bloggers, blog readers and Internet users!! Busting the soo call offenders is only increasing their value and increasing the volume on their voice isn’t it?? :)

Thats EXACTLY what triggered me to read some of the more famous local bloggers site and if you read what they have to say, they are awesome!! You hardly find them telling you what you should do! They are just speaking their hearts and in my eyes, they are just stating the obvious!Everyone is blessed with a brain each and you can decide whats good or not for you! Just because a certain piece of information is out there it doesn’t mean you need to change your views or take drastic measures.

Blogging has given me a whole new dimention in the way i look for information and the kind of information that is actually available to me! I think its awesome! If your a reader, check out the blogs out there and trust me its awesome!

I still find myself writing with caution, i guess its good to do everything in moderation.I’m going to speak my mind the way i know how too now but how will it look down the road??

Time will tell :)

GPS in your car!

Have you ever experienced getting lost on the road??
Check out the below story and getting lost could be a thing of the past..

Story - >

WHAT: GPS System consisting of HTC Touch WM6 PDA-Phone, Holux Bluetooth GPS Receiver and Mapking 2007 Software

COST: HTC Touch: RM2,099. Holux receiver: RM300. MapKing 2007: RM276. PDA holder: RM50. Always knowing where you are and how to find your way around: Priceless!

Sorry I’m late. I got lost along the way. You know lah, KL roads. Once you make a wrong turn, habis.

Friend. There are 24 satellites orbiting the Earth. Why aren’t you making use of a GPS system?

You mean we have GPS in Malaysia?

Well, in-car navigation systems have been around for some time, but you can also build your own! PDA-phones have become so affordable nowadays. The only things stopping people from trying is lack of awareness and fear of something new. Actually it is quite simple to put together. I built mine using an HTC PDA-phone, a Holux GPS receiver and MapKing 2007 software.

HTC? Sorry, not familiar with the name.

Hardly surprising. HTC used to be a contract manufacturer for other brands but now they’ve come out with PDA phones bearing their own name. I like the HTC Touch because for a device that includes a camera and phone, it is very small and costs just RM2,099. And as the name suggests, it responds very well to finger taps — perfect for in-car use.

And what’s this matchbox-sized thing here for?

That’s the Bluetooth GPS receiver. It collects data from satellites and feeds the location to the PDA via Bluetooth.

And the software?

MapKing 2007 is a digital map software for handheld devices. You can also use it without a GPS connection but then it becomes like a normal map.

Ok, so how do you use this system?

Very simple. First, select your destination. I have preconfigured destinations on my PDA such as home, in-law’s house and office so it just takes a few finger taps. But you can also search by categories, points of interest, towns and keywords or key in the latitude and longitude. Once you have selected your destination and entered the software’s GPS mode, the otherwise flat map takes on a 3D look.

Which feels more natural for driving, right?

Exactly. After that, all you have to do is follow the 3D map and the voice commands that accompany it. The voice will notify you when you are approaching a turn, an intersection or a point of interest. It will even warn if you are going too fast.

You actually get nagged by your PDA?

Yeah. Macam mak nenek. It gets annoying after some time. That’s why I changed the freeway speed limit on my software from the default 110km per hour to 120. Anyway, at the end of the journey, the voice will announce, “You have reached your destination.”

Sa-weet! You know, I could really use this for visiting my relatives in Kota Baru during the upcoming Hari Raya. I only go back to KB once a year and I keep forgetting how to go to their houses.

Wok-aloh, we are in the same boat! I also have to learn Kelantan roads ever since I got married to a Kelantanese.

The PDA it self is very iPhone like — Watch the video HERE

Are you a Phantom Voter?

This is another topic from a friend who wrote into the ContactMe tab on this site. From what we read and hear on the media it sounds like the General should be around the corner and of late im sure you would have seen Election Commission booths all over the place encouraging the public to get registered. The new term that has been flirting around lately is a Phantom Voter. Know what a Phantom Voter is? Read this Story

If you read the above story of the Phantom Voter, its amazing how someone who has never voted in his life goes to register and discovers that he has been a registered voter in a part of the country he never been too! Amazing isn’t it??

Oh well..we shouldn’t be pointing fingers or accusing anyone, in the world of IT and technology mistakes like this are bound to happen. Only something with full human intervention will entail to some sort of accountability(i hope).

Lately i have read about a few cases of the same magnitude and it only could mean that your a voter but you are not voting, someone or something else is doing it for you!

I know it sounds a bit messed up but the truth of the matter is you can fix this!

How?? Get your self registered to be a voter, check if all your details are up to date and you have done your part!

This is the Delirium 3 step recommendation in preventing you from being Phantom-ized!

Step 1

Register your self to be a voter(You need to go to a SPR counter to do this)

Step 2

Log onto the SPR web site and check if your details are correct, you can do it HERE

Step 3

VOTE!

The way i see it you only can become a phantom voter if you never checked, how you fix it?? YOU CHECK!

And if you don’t vote, you loose your whinning rights! You dont want to be left out when everyone is whining isnt it?? :)

Air-Asia X

I’ve always been a big fan of Air Asia, ever since these guys kid our shores flying has been the no 1 choice since its extremely affordable and sometimes it turns out cheaper then travelling by road(if you book early enough!) .

Travelling around this region has become a norm for most of us since the emergence of Air Asia and now they have take it one step further with AirAsia X!

The first long-haul budget carrier will fly to China and Australia and UK soon to follow,im pretty sure with the price points of the flights offered, flying abroad is now not a luxury anymore! To serve this purpose AirAsia X will be aquiring more flights that are capable of this kind of distance. I personally cant wait for this to happen and with Sir Richard Branson buying into this project, you know that its got potential to fly!
