10km/p Slower Saves Lives
- With 0 comments
According to a report by Utusan Malaysia, all federal and state roads will have its speed limits reduced by 10km/h between the 25th of September 2008 to the 12th of October 2008. Transport Ministry secretary general Datuk Zakaria Bahari says this move is part of an effort to “reduce highway accidents” during the Hari Raya season.
It looks like law-abiding citizens will have to set off earlier for their balik kampung trips thanks to the lower speed limit. This is actually not something new - apparently lowering the speed limit has been in practice since 2006.
Now this is a problem in my view. I dont think its the speed limits that cause accidents but the reckless drivers that the root cause of accidents. Driving slow on a road that is pratically never ending and starring at you would make one sleepy. I tend to be much more alert when im driving a little faster and i hope that the reduction of the speed limit does not cause more accidents and everyone gets back to their kampung’s safely!
Have a safe journey back and if you come across a annoying or reckless driver..Let him go by because its just not worth it!!
