Cesc Fàbregas – Barcelona

After being away for 8 years at Arsenal, the former Barcelona trainee is moving back to the club where it all started for him. The Arsenal captain will be having his medical, will be signed and officially be unveiled as a Barca player in a deal worth about 35Million. Arsenal signed him from Barca for about £600,000 , which means Arsenal makes a net profit of £34.4 Million!

Fabregas moved to London in the summer of 2003, at only 16 years of age. He played 303 games with Arsenal, where he managed a total of 57 goals and 100 assists. These fantastic stats from the World star have not gone unnoticed by Barça, who have done everything possible to get Cesc back. Fabregas became captain of Arsenal, for whom he played a total of 303 games. He holds the records for the youngest Arsenal first team player (16 years and 177 days v Rotherham United (h), 28 October 2003) and the youngest Arsenal first team goalscorer (16 years and 212 days v Wolves (h), 2 December, 2003).

Malaysia Drop 2 Spots In Latest FIFA Rankings

In the latest FIFA rankings which came out yesterday, Malaysia has drop 2 spots from the 144th spot. This is one day before we take on Singapore in the repeat leg of the FIFA World Cup qualifier with a 2 goal deficit to chase. Notable improvement are our opponents, Singapore who surged a impressive 11 spots to 131. So we sit pretty now on the 146th spot of 203 in total. Shameful!

Some may argue that we were impressive recently and probably surprised by the drop but maybe we are not doing the right things where it matters and only doing well on the matches which has no value.We also perform horribly when we play out of the country but do decent when we play at home “Jaguh Kampung” mentality kicking in there.

To give you a bit of background on Malaysia and FIFA rankings,
Highest FIFA ranking -> 75th – August 1993. .
Lowest FIFA Ranking -> 170th – April 2008.
Best Mover -> 21 spots- April 1996
Worst mover -> -23 spots – October 1995

PS : Bangladesh are now 147th in the rankings, one behind Malaysia

Singapore Are BACK!

Growing up i used to go to the stadium’s a lot to watch the local league when Singapore were part of the league. There was fiery rivalry between the likes of Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and even Singapore which was truly breath taking. They used to take turns in winning the Malaysia Cup and the league tittle but ever since Singapore decided to leave the league and form their own local league, local football lost its appeal. Then there was a huge bribery scandal which saw many players and officials getting charged. It went downhill from there, standard of football dropped and even the giants in KL and Selangor team were not performing or managed the way they used to be.

In the latest development :

Under the four-year deal, the Malaysian under-23 side will play in the S-League and Singapore’s two cup competitions, while their Singapore counterparts will ply their trade in the Malaysian Super League and its two domestic cup tournaments, starting next year

FANTASTIC!

This will definitely draw huge crowds on both live coverage and in the stadium. Passion will start flowing again and hopefully this will kick start the growth of football on both sides of the causeway. I for one cant wait to see the Singapore team in our local league and to see how our Harimau Muda team fairs in the Singapore league.

Bragging rights is at steak! :)

Owen Hargreaves Needs A Job

Owen Hargreaves was released off his United contract after the 2010/11 season after a dissapointing stint which was largely plagued by injuries. His move from Munich  to Old Trafford for £17million in 2007 but managed just 39 appearances as both knees gave him severe problems over his four-year stay

He is now on the lookout for a new club and released 3 video’s via Youtube to prove his fitness and secure a gig for the new season. In my opinion he is a decent player and im sure the newly promoted clubs would benefit from his experience at the highest levels. Having said that, Arsenal might benefit from something they lack off .. Experience!
