Maxis are currently upgrading their data packages for current users. I’m not sure of the various upgrades but both my wife and I have been upgraded to slightly better packages. It’s perfect timing for us, with the recent iOS 5 upgrades our data usage has increased and i found myself reaching or passing the limit with one week to go to my next billing cycle.

Our Upgrades 

Account 1
iValue 1 (iPhone) package. It was on a 500MB data for RM50.
Upgraded to 1GB for NO Extra Cost

Account 2
Regular 500MB data package for RM58
Upgraded to 1.5GB for No Extra Cost

Since account 1 got only a 500MB compared to a 1GB upgrade for account 2, i decided to call to check and apparently maxis has drawn up a new data to cost package, this upgrade of 1 GB is given to those who were with paying RM58 for 500MB ONLY.

I’m not complaining, not too sure if it’s the most competitive but i give props to Maxis for this automatic upgrade.

Here’s a nice tip, this is how you can check how much you have exhausted off your monthly data usage from your monthly Maxis data package. Im on a 500MB plan which is sufficient for me as I’m on wifi when at home where I do my updates and other data hungry activities.

Using this method, you can ensure that you keep your data usage in check. If you don’t know already, it cost a bomb when you pass your monthly data cap so its good to check to ensure you don’t fall under that bracket.

Its pretty important for you to pay attention to your data usage on a monthly basis. I recommend you check your data usage at least once a month, 1 week before your billing cycle to see if you are in the green or in the red. Over shooting your allocation is very expensive and if you find your self close or over shooting the allocation, its a better idea to go once bracket higher. Trust me, it saves you money!

WIth the new iPhone due to be released in October, here is a cool infographic that compares the 5 generations that have braced the market. The device has changed the way we used our mobilie devices and toke Smartphones to the masses.

One thing really cool is just have a look at the app growth, from about 500 when the first iPhone was released against more than 500,000 today. For me, that’s what makes a great mobile experience.

The guys at MacRumours are at it again and im convinced that this is close to what could be the new iPhone 5.

Last month, we saw a leak of the design specification which claimed to be for the iPhone 5. Chinese case manufacturers seem to be betting on that design as they’ve already started producing cases based on that design document. We’d even requested and received some early renders based on the case designs.

The elongated hole for the home button has suggested that the home button may itself also become more oval in shape. That is the direction our designer took as well. It’s also possible, however, that the home button will retain its round shape and Apple has simply allowed extra space for swiping across the home button in a left to right or right to left manner. These’s been some speculation that Apple could allow such a gesture for users to quickly switch between multitasking apps.

Rumored Dimensions :
4.33″ x 2.36″ and .27″ thickness at the top and .
21″ at the bottom
In comparison, the iPhone 4
dimensions are: 4.5″ x 2.31″ x .37″.

So the new design is actually shorter than the existing iPhone 4, but slightly wider and thinner. Another point to take note is that Apple would be abandoning the glass backing of the iPhone 4 and instead moving back to an aluminum design

Looks very sleek but i would imagine that it would feel very fragile, almost wafer like. Time will tell, its widely expected to be released about the September- October timeframe.
