Some call it social media, some call it new media, call it what you want but these communication platforms have taken us by storm and are here to stay. As far as im concern, the landscape has changed and its now a even playing field with the creative and adventures coming out tops against the conservative.

Facebook

1. The average Facebook user has 130 friends.
2. More than 25 billion pieces of content (web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photo albums, etc.) is shared each month.
3. Over 300,000 users helped translate the site through the translations application.
4. More than 150 million people engage with Facebook on external websites every month.
5. Two-thirds of comScore’s U.S. Top 100 websites and half of comScore’s Global Top 100 websites have integrated with Facebook.
6. There are more than 100 million active users currently accessing Facebook through their mobile devices.
7. People that access Facebook via mobile are twice as active than non-mobile users (think about that when designing your Facebook page).
8. The average Facebook user is connected to 60 pages, groups and events.
9. People spend over 500 billion minutes per month on Facebook.
10. There are more than 1 million entrepreneurs and developers from 180 countries on Facebook.

Social Media Revolution 2

Like it or not Social Media is the current way to get to your consumers and vice versa. The flow of information has changed significantly and its time to get on the bandwagon if you have not already.

Twitter New HomePage

Twitter has just rolled out a new homepage that non-logged in users see when they visit Twitter.com. It features scrolling trending topics, “top tweets” (you get to see some of twits which are consider “top Twits”), and a “who’s here” with avatars of well-known users and brands that are on the microblogging service.

Socially Stalked

This is a post i did for the VanityShack :)

Are you a face book junkie? Its become a bit of a norm for most to log into face book as the first web site when  first web site as soon as you start up your pc. Updat ing your sta tus on what you did or what you plan to do or even what your thoughts are on cer tain issues. Then you browse around your friends pro­files to see what they been up too and leav ing a com ment or 2 while your at it.

The “wiser” few who dont show up at work tak ing the infa mous mc but really they were just tired from wthe exten sive par ty ing over the week end or had other plans that put going to work on the back seat. This smart act has got a few lucky ones fired from their jobs ‚for get ting that their boss or their bosses, boss who are on their friends list.

Face book is a stalk ers boon from the gods above. Many have suc cumbed to stalk ers and have cause them giv ing up their social pres ence which is as hard as stop ping smok ing for some. So my advice to you socialn net work junkies, go slow on broad cast ing your activ i ties. Know who your friends are and dont add peo ple you dont know. Its not a pop u lar ity con test, its a social network!
