Attach 25MB Files On Gmail

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

gmail-contest

Attachment sizes are always difficult on emails. My office has a sad 3MB file attachment limit! Yes, 3 bloody MB! So as you can already tell, most documents get bounced off the wall most of the time so i use my Gmail to send those emails which get blocked. There used to be a 10MB limit by gmail, but not anymore!

Now you can attach a 25MB attachment (provided the other party can handle that size! A smart move if you asked me! Very soon the world of webmail will be all gmail but i wont be too sure competition will be resting on their laurels to this move!

“With Gmail, you can send and receive messages up to 25 megabytes (MB) in size. Please note that you may not be able to send larger attachments to contacts who use other email services with smaller attachment limits. If your attachment bounces, you should invite them to Gmail,” suggests Google.

On a separate note, who has heard of 15mb attachments on emails before this?! Amazing how we have all this space now ha! Try googling 25mb on google image, you get images of pen drives :P

Related Post v Random Post

Untitled

I was doing some site maintenance and cleaning up the plugins and theme’s for Delirium. While cleaning up the plugins and taking them up to date since there was a new 2.8 wordpress version. While doing this, i was considering removing the related post plugin. What is the related post plugin?

WordPress Related Posts Plugin will generate a related posts via WordPress tags, and add the related posts to feed.

It basically pulls out previous postings that are related to the posted article. Its determined by tags that were indicated in the post. Its served well for more than a year but i wanted to try something different.

Since i have more than 1,316 post in my record, it be a pity if my old postings were not read. So i decide to try out a new plugin to replace the related post plugin with a random post plugin .What does the random post plugin do?

The random post plugin pulls out a random list of old postings every time

This in my view is a pretty useful plugin! It basically takes the dirt off the old postings and bringing it back to live. The cool thing about this plugin is also that you can configure it the way you want it too work. I’m going to go with this plugin and it hopefully bring the old postings back to live!! If its already doing well, why promote it eh? :)

What you think?

Petition – Twitter Style

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

tinypetitionPetitions are coming in thin and fast in todays day of age. Getting the voice of the people for a particular cause has increased recently which is a good thing in my view. In order to get people to participate depends on a few factors. The norm is how important a certain petition is to one and then of course, how easy it is to be heard.

Dan Blake from Harkness Labs is working on Twitter-related venture, TinyPetition. This site allows twitters to take part in a petition with ease! Now what kind of expertise does Dan Blake come with you may ask? Blake has access to an existing user base of millions he could potentially draw from, as he also happens to be the guy behind this website called PetitionSpot,

With such data and knowledge in his disposal, your pretty sure that we are in for something special! So you have a campaign and need the partcipation of the people? This could be a solution!

What is a browser?

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Google went to the streets of Times Square to ask people one very simple question. What is a browser? And the responses they got! :)

Its shocking isn’t it but not surprising. Sometimes we take it for granted that we know things that we use on a daily basis but when asked the very simple question or the most obvious one, you tend to get lost! I think its very normal and it doesnt make you less smarter than you are but it be nice to find out isnt it :)

So i looked up Wiki and a browser is :

A web browser is a software application for retrieving, presenting, and traversing information resources on the World Wide Web

There you go! Now you know what a browser is :)

Get Your Facebook Username!

Monday, June 15th, 2009

If  not aware yet, Facebook has decided to give you a real identity istead of a no to identify yourself. How does this work? Simple , have a look at the below image :

4700_122311816728_20531316728_2784466_2118130_nYou can decide what you want your facebook username to look like( subject to availability of course! So this was release over the weekend and some really smart people on the web decided to get creative and this is what happened :

Tim Lunsford grabbed http://www.facebook.com/wp-admin, which will make people confuse it with WordPress admin login of Facebook, if  they have any.
Joan Desautels grabbed http://www.facebook.com/suggested, which could be confused with suggested facebook users and surely make a few more friends.
Sergei Polishchuk grabbed http://www.facebook.com/readme.shtml, just in case you wanted to confuse it for the facebook service terms or about pages.
Jack Foster got http://www.facebook.com/staff.aspx, which could otherwise have led you to Facebook staff and their pages.

Smart eh! So have you got yourself a username yet? If you havent, you should hurry before your left with a username which is not your 1st,2nd or even 3rd choice :)
