Going green is a cliché with more and more companies jumping on the bandwagon but how many are really taking it seriously. A truly green company looks at all aspects of the matter while keep sustainability in mind.

McDonald’s , its impressive of what they have done and hope more and more start practising/documenting they work and have a plan which they diligently follow thru.  For me its key that the big players set the precedence and the rest will follow.

This one is horrible, sad, cruel .. and its ironic that it’s happening in the country where cows are worshipped. I’m glad that organizations like Peta are exposing such acts and bringing it to the knowledge of the world. This has got to stop. Hopefully it’s not happening here in our country and other countries.

PETA India’s recent undercover investigation of several dairy farms revealed shocking cruelty to cows and buffaloes. Tabelas – animal factories with no provisions for health care or animal welfare – are steadily replacing small family farms.

Buffaloes in Delhi’s main dairy facility stand knee-deep in foul-smelling excrement, suffering from skin infections, foot disease and other illnesses.

Garbage is piled up everywhere. Drainage, electricity and designated waste disposal sites are lacking.

In Mumbai, calves are tightly tethered on short ropes in order to prevent them from reaching their mothers, but in their struggle to get free, they often become entangled in the ropes and strangle themselves. One dairy owner reported that half the calves die shortly after birth.

Heard this one on BFM yesterday about Water Demand Management in Malaysia and boy it was a very interesting talk. Here are some staggering stats that we all have a part to play

• A conventional toilet uses between 9 and more liters of water , a water saving toilet would use half or less of that. 
• A conventional shower head uses 13 liters a MINUTE which means 5-10 minute shower you would have used about 130 liters of water.Water efficient shower head uses 5 liters a minute

Isang Litrong Liwanag (A Liter of Light), is a sustainable lighting project which aims to bring the eco-friendly Solar Bottle Bulb to disprivileged communities nationwide. Designed and developed by students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Solar Bottle Bulb is based on the principles of Appropriate Technologies – a concept that provides simple and easily replicable technologies that address basic needs in developing communities.

It’s a special project! Imagine giving light to people who live in darkness and don’t have that very basic element to live in and this is a cheap and effective way to bring lights to their homes! This is a superb case study and should be taken across the globe to many places where people don’t even have basic light.

Imagine the smile’s on the faces of the people who get this new light , PRICELESS!
